Re: NCAA going hard on USC...

Well, they only went to the Emerald Bowl last year - so not much different.

But as usual - the kids who didn't have anything to do with it get punished. Not sure there's much else to do - but still sucks.

Good. About time the NCAA wakes up and smells the coffee.

Can the NCAA actually ban someone from participating in bowl competition? I thought they had zero control over bowl selection.

This has been rumored for years. Anyone of those kids that committed to USC had to know that the NCAA was sniffing around. I do wish, however, that in one of these cases, the NCAA allowed free transfers to anyone that wanted to leave. That would make schools pay attention a little more and actually hurt the team.

Re: NCAA going hard on USC...

That's not hard on them. 4 years would deplete two classes. I don't think 2 years does much. If you are going to USC you have to think you won't play until at least your second year in MOST cases. Most likely you won't play until your 3rd. So the incoming class, who is already balls deep only likely loses that playing experience for a year tops. The next class is even less affected. It's a joke really.

    Or so I have read.

The NCAA limits when, how many, and under what condition games can be played. If they don't sanction a team to play in a postseason game, they can drop the hammer on that team if they do. It doesn't matter if they don't control bowl selections.

Oh I wish. The thing that sucks is that USC will be penalized, but they will quickly recover. Everything will be good again in southern Cal, and they will be making a ton of money in the new Pac 16. Iowa State, however, will be in a weak conference, losing revenue quickly. We didn't cheat. USC did. Yet USC still ends up winning. You gotta love college football!

That ought to get the Pac-10 expansion off to a noble start.

    NCAA punishes USC

ESPN A two ban on the postseason for the football and they must vacate wins in Reggie Bush's final season. Looks like Pete Carroll was smart for leaving.

If Texas is going to the Pac 10, this is the time to do it when they can get a huge leg up on USC.

    USC National Title in 2004

to be vacated due to cheating. Just curious if they now award that to Oklahoma or do they just say that nobody wins it that year? TMZ is reporting they have to give it up.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.
