Re: PAC 10 INVITES GOING OUT - Big XII Coach Source

The coach said the Pac-10 favored Colorado over Baylor because of the Buffaloes' presence in the Denver TV market.
Good luck with that. Wasn't there a CF poster that said he lives in the Denver area and said that Denver doesn't give a **** about Colorado?

ďI told you, I donít care if youíre black or white. I donít care if youíre rich or poor. I donít care where you come from, whether itís Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I donít care about any of thatÖ But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads

Re: PAC 10 INVITES GOING OUT - Big XII Coach Source

I just don't know if I see the Big Television going to 16. I think the PAC-10 could be setting themselves up for a Western Conference type of expansion nightmare.

Well we will see how dedicated Texas is to Baylor right now. The only chance we have in not playing in division II in a couple of years hinges on that decision.

Re: PAC 10 INVITES GOING OUT - Big XII Coach Source

With that large population base, the new conference would start its own network and, along with other broadcast partners, likely would distribute around $20 million per member, comparable broadcast revenue to the Big Ten ($22 million) and SEC ($17 million), the source said.
The Big 12 distributed $7-12 million per year. The Pac-10 distributed $8-10 million.

    Color me stunned.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?

That is a lot of money for a bunch of non-profits. How ironic.

Do they really have to insult our intelligence with 'anonymous source'? Clearly, their source is Mack Brown.

Ironically, I think Baylor might be in worse shape than us without the Big12 or Pac 10. At least we have some mates to help us rebuild....

It is really two 8 team conferences and they just play a couple games against each other.

They don't need people to actually watch the network, they just need lots of people with cable/satellite subscriptions. They'll end up paying for the network without ever watching it. Same issue with the NY "market" in the Big 10. With a conference member in located NY state, the Big 10 will get $0.70 (I think, and $0.10 for every household outside a Big 10 state) per household that receives the channel per month regardless of actual viewership. For ISU, we bring no extra revenue via the BTN because the state was locked up through Iowa. It isn't "not enough TVs" it's 0 TVs from the BTN revenue standpoint.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out with Baylor and the Rest of the Texas' teams. It will also be interesting to see how the Texas Legislature pulls it's strings to get Baylor apart of the deal.

    Colorado is TOAST.

Instead of competing with ISU, KU, KSU, MU, and Nebraska.... they will be playing Texas, Oklahoma, Okie St, TT, A&M, Arizona, and Arizona St. And some years they might also get a USC or Oregon too.

They might not ever win a game.... besides some non-conference lightweights? Heck, they can't even beat CSU either, so there goes that idea. How does 2 wins a year sound to you Buff fans?
