Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

    Another rumor floating around.

People seem to think this guy knows what he's talking about. Just another interesting scenario.

Those bastards! But then it seems like TT, BU, OU, OSU, and CU join our homeless group. I'll trade OU for Mizzou anyday.

The Big Ten obviously want or wanted Texas and Texas A&M. I just can't imagine that they would ever accept (e.g., spreading the Texas HS football wealth, traveling north to play).

Would leave OU and OSU for the SEC I would imagine?

Re: Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

Actually, this might screw us more:

OSU and OU to the SEC (+2 ACC or KU and KSU)
CU to PAC 10 with Utah
Then it's Iowa State, TT, and Baylor. Awesome.

Re: Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

If true, there is a whole different group of B12 orphans - us, the Kansases, the Oklahomas, TTU, Baylor, and CU (for now, even though the can't afford the buyout.) That's 8, would keep the AQ, force the buyouts from the other 4, and could possibly move on? I'm betting the SEC would look at the south teams (at least OU, but probably more...) There's strength in numbers! Wait, we're still doomed, right?

if texas didn't like playing at the north schools in November, they'll LOVE playing in the big 10 schools in November.

Re: Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

Nothing about this rumor suggests the Texas schools will necessarily accept it. I'm guessing the Big 10 will ask "under the table" like with Nebraska, and if they agree then they'll be extended official invitations.

Re: Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

When this is declined I believe the B10 will go east, like that other thread says.

That is consistent with what Gene Smith said at one point, that geography matters (and not how we would prefer that it matter). Texas is the first choice to get into a faster growing part of the country. Short of that going east gets lots of TV sets.

Re: Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame to Big 10?

I don't want to rule ISU out. Anything can happen, and the east scenario isn't exactly consistent with a faster growing area. What also came out at the same time was the possibility of Georgia Tech (part of the fast growing south).
