Re: QB, Charlie Rogers of Iowa City West

This kid is a freakish athlete. Going to West High, I attended his games this year and he was a key factor in the few wins that the team had. Definite D-I talent. He's fast and agile though he needs to work on his skills as a QB but he still has 2 years to do that. He was by far the fastest player on the field in many games last year where he torched the defense for a long TD run. Would be a good player to have on the team. Having his former teammate Jacob Gannon at ISU could help some.

Thanks for sharing. I would imagine that if conf expansion actually happens and ISU is scrambling I would guess recruiting would become impossible. What kid would want to commit to a school where he doesn't know who they will be playing.

Good article on Rogers that I just spotted in the Register.

That article is just nauseating. You can tell his jack *** coach is beating down ISU every single day.

"He's just waiting for that big offer from Iowa, just like every kid that grows up in Iowa". Ok, tell that to Fred Hoiberg and Austen Arnaud.

Yeah, that was good for a laugh. It's obvious from this kid's tone that Iowa would beat out tOSU, pfffftt.

He's from Iowa City so what do you expect it's not shocking that he is waiting for an Iowa offer being surrounded by all things hawk.

    Except he never said this. His punk coach stated that every Iowa kid is dreaming about an Iowa offer, these guys disagree;

    Dan Koppen
    Adrian Arrington
    Sage Rosenfels
    Kyle Orton
    Kyle Vanden Bosch
    Tyson Smith

    Todd Blythe
    Dan Hoch
    Matt Hoch

This. Obviously an Iowa City athlete is going to be consumed with all things Hawks, but that coach is just spewing Hawk propaganda. Not every Iowa dreams of playing for the Hawks. If I was a D-1 caliber athlete, I'd have gone to ISU over Iowa, and I'm guessing so would many here.

Ditto, I was actually D-1 talent in many sports but for some reason did not get a single offer.

You forgot Jason Scales. He didn't have quite the career at ISU that we all hoped he would have, but he was a highly regarded running back coming out of Valley. Iowa wanted him for sure.

If an offer doesn't come from Iowa, what are the chances his coach tells him to stay in the state?

I say slim and none just by reading this story. It is amazing that when Raef Lafrentz picked Kansas over Iowa, a lot of Iowa fans were miffed that an Iowa kid wouldn't pick his home state to play in. When Harrison Barnes picked North Carolina, a lot of Iowa fans laughed that ISU couldn't pick up a highly-touted recruit in their own backyard.

That's why I say that if he doesn't come to ISU, I hope he gets an offer from Ohio State and goes there.

You guys are morons. You do realize this same coach pushed Ben Barkema, Nick Frere, Nate Frere and also Jacob Gannon from IC West to Iowa State. Typical clueless ******** posting things they dont have a clue about. Well done.

Ben, Nick and Nate went to Muscatine, not Iowa City.
