    View from the Big East

They seem to include most big 12 members in their scenarios, Baylor not so much..

If it's true that ND, Rutgers, Syracuse and Maryland are also Big Ten bound as is being reported, there is going to be a LOT more shakeups in the Big East/ACC/SEC. I just have this feeling all that has to shake out before those conferences come looking at what to do with the leftovers in the Big 12

Yeah, each conference is thinking they can raid the other, but it'll be hard to say who will end up with any leverage whatsoever.

What a cluster****... I want to just sleep and let this settle itself out.

    But it's so damned intriguing.

Re: View from the Big East

The only thing I'm concerned about is that if the SEC expands, I'm afraid that they are going to take all of their teams from the ACC, meaning that the left over Big East teams and ACC teams creating a new conference that makes geographical sense, leaving the Midwest schools out.

absolute worst case scenario is SEC takes mizzou. no, worst case is SEC takes mizzou and KU.

Its my understanding that kansas state legislation has KU and KSU tied at the hip. I will say that now from a strictly football standpoint, mizzou is seemingly valuable to ISU, KSU and KU.

this is a real legitimate concern. SEC won't sit around while the big 10 and pac 10 expand. they will raid the acc for fla st, g tech, clemson, miami. This will cause the ACC to go get the big east leftovers, UCONN, S Fla, W Vir, and pitt. acc just signed a lucrative new tv package that will make them much more attractive to the big east leftovers as opposed to some ragtag new conference put together by spineless jellyfish beebe

With a core of ISU, KU, KSU, and MU, then Louisville and Cincinnati would both fit well geographically. Also Memphis is a good possibility. Maybe Tulsa. It'd be great if there was a way to get Kentucky, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt interested but probably a hard sell.

It could go something like this:

Big 12's stepchildren: Hey guys! We're trying to form a new leauge. Interested?

Louisville: Well, Big East is dead. Sure

Cincy: We went to a BCS bowl and this is how we're rewarded? F U Notre Dame. Yeah, we're in.

Big 12's: Awesome. Hey Memphis and Tulsa, what about you?

Memphis: But you're actually real schools... How will we compete without partial qualifiers?

    K-State: DURRRRRRRRRRRR.

    Memphis: I'm in.

    Tulsa: Me too.

Big 12: How about you guys?

    Kentucky: WTF. Are you joking?

    KU: Think of the basketball!

Kentucky: Will it make us money like the SEC does?

    Mizzou: No.

    Kentucky: Shove it.

I would prefer the current 9 Mountain West Teams, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Boise State, and Missouri (if they remain) + 1 other to form a solid new conference.

Re: View from the Big East

I think our best hope now is UT/aTm/OU/OSU head to the SEC somehow jettisoning the baggage that is TT and BU.That stops that expansion in its tracks. ACC could pick off 5 BE schools to get to 16. That leaves 2 (likely Cincy and Louisville) to join our party. That's 7 of us (assuming Mizzou escapes as does CU) Pick up TCU, SMU/Houston/Tulsa, AFA, Colorado St., and one more and we have a pretty ****** but viable league!

I think you gain more legitimacy the more current BCS conference members you have. So the more big east\big 12 remnants together the better.

Re: View from the Big East

Why does everyone think the Big XII dissolves as a result of this? Obviously, Texas is in the driver's seat when it comes to the future of the conference and if I were them, I would look east for expansion. If the conference loses NU and MU, then we should go pick up Florida State, Miami, and others. If I were Texas, I'd look to ally myself with football schools in basketball conferences that are in big markets and big havens for recruiting.

C'mon, people! The PAC-10 offer was just an offer. All they have to offer the Big XII schools is the California market and revenue sharing with USC for football. Woopee. If the Big XII puts themselves in the driver's seat, they have a lot more to gain by moving on the Florida schools.
