    TCU and SMU

I think the original Big 8 minus the Oklahoma schools need to keep the big 12 and invite TCU, SMU, and Possibly Arkansas. I really think ISU, KU, and KSU need to have Texas schools in there conferance. It's a huge recruiting place for us. We have to go down there and tell the kids we will be playing in Arkansas.
I know we don't have any pull right now. That sucks. However the big 6 schools left over need to get together and start a conference that allows them to invite schools to the conference.

elevating more texas schools in conference stature will NOT help recruiting. It will dilute it even more than it is now.

    Re: TCU and SMU

Why on earth would Arkansas leave the SEC for this new conference? Do you think they will want to loose millions of dollars in revenue every year just for the chance to play SMU? How about we come up with some other "possible" conferences like ISU and Notre Dame joining the Sun Belt?

Um, exactly who are the 6 schools that will be left over? ISU, KU, KSU and Baylor/Colorado loser. That's 4 by my math.

My father is friends with the Arkansas A.D. They have been secretly wanting to get out of the SEC since they got in it. However they can't come out and say it. I think if a deal was right they would jump on it. Arkansas was a big dog in the SWC just like Texas. It was basically the Texas and Arkansas conference. Arkansas is a small dog in the SEC right now and there athletic programs have gone to crap. They used to have a top 10 basketball and football program. Now they are never ranked in either. Arkansas would love to be the big dog again.

So just to be a big dog in a conference Arkansas would be willing to loose millions of dollars? Interesting. Idiotic, but interesting.

They are losing millions of dollars from boosters who are sick of losing.

Do not forget South Florida. That would possibly open up more recruiting.

    Re: TCU and SMU

Yeah i would agree with South Florida. There are going to be enough team left in the dust like Iowa State that we could get in on a pretty good conferance. Maybe not Arkansas. However there are a lot of good schools that are going to need a conference.

NU out...Arkansas in...if that's enough to preserve that FOX sports deal discussed in the other thread, the six in the south may stay to preserve the Big 12...

South Florida makes zero sense - they would be 1500-2000 miles away from the rest of the conference. And I'm not sure having USF in the Big East has really improved its schools Florida recruitment any...
