    Omaha Golf Courses

I am going to be in Omaha for the CWS/Fathers Day and am looking for a decent golf course for $30 to $50 to play at while I am there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I loved Indian Creek out in West Omaha. Great Public Course with 27 holes. If I remember right it's $45-55.

**Indian Creek, but I agree. It is located in Elkhorn.

While people still refer to many areas of town by their former name, and telling people its in Elkhorn helps to be more specific, it hardly warrants correction. Its actually located in Omaha.

Tara Hills in Papillion is a nice course and reasonably priced. Basically there are a ton of courses around here and I've not heard too many of them complained about extensively, although some are certainly better than others. If you like hitting apartment buildings I'd suggest Applewood (Johnny Goodman). I dont know why anyone would like doing that but its one of the most memorable things about my limited Omaha golf experience!

The annexation folks think you are technically correct.

Another vote for Indian Creek but I wouldn't make Pac Springs a destination by any means. You can play Pac with 3 clubs - driver, sand wedge, and a putter.

Another course in the metro that I really enjoy is Bent Tree in Council Bluffs. Quarry Oaks is about 20 miles SW of town and gets all kinds of accolades and is a good track. I have only played there a couple of times. The most recent the course wasn't in tip top shape - considering that it is consistently rated as a top 100 public course in the country. The layout is better than any of the others mentioned but you pay a little for the "rankings" it gets.

Tiburon and Stone Creek are others that like Indian Creek have 27 holes and are better than most other public options.

If you want a dink course with lots of shade trees, think Elmwood on Dodge.

Ironhorse near Ashland is also an interesting layout built around a quarry lake.

    Re: Omaha Golf Courses

My recommendation would be Ironwood at 132nd & Pacific. It's the former Highland Country Club which has long been one of the most highly regarded courses in the area. The economic downturn forced it to close it's doors at the end of last year. The developer who purchased the property has opened it up to the public for one final season while he wraps up plans for future development of the property. Rates with cart are around $35 during the week and $45 on weekends. I haven't been on it yet, but plan to get in a round sometime this summer. The only question would be if they are maintaining it in the same manner during the transition year.

I have to agree. This is a one year bonanza before it closes. I use to drive by the clubhouse. It looks very municipal, but the high rollers played.
