If bradstad gets the nod...I honestly don't know who I'd want for governor, or if I'd vote at all. It's really a lose-lose situation IMO anyway.

This seems to be a better setup for the results, showing % of precincts reporting and by broken down by county:

Except that he tried to kill ISU during the 16 years he was in office, among other things.
If it was up to him, we would be the University of Iowa at Ames.

Well to be fair, I'm definitely very conservative in many aspects. Not to the extremes that some might think though. I think there has to be a good balance in everything, I.E same-sex marriage. I personally believe marriage is a christian principle, and a christian based tradition and while it isn't worth what it used to be I believe in it's sanctity. However, if you're a same sex couple, by no means should you be denied the rights of other couples/people (hospital rights and etc.)

    It's hard to explain really.

    Re: June 8 Primary Results

Branstad with a Democratic legislature might be the only way to get things done.

Without diving too much in to "cave talk", the legislature does not respect their current governor and Branstad is savvy enough to know he cannot be too conservative if his party is not in control.

I am seeing more conservatives mention this. Personally, I do not think it is hard to explain or understand. The biggest barrier is the word "marriage" itself just complicates everything.

I'm more focused on the fiscal issues than social issues. I'm pretty libertarian leaning.

As for marriage issues, id rather have the state out of it entirely. Give anyone, gay or straight who wants to establish a 'civil union' as a business relationship a government license. Do the rest at a church if you want. Its interesting if you look into history how the church wasnt really even involved in marriage until about 1000-1200 from what ive seen, and the catholic church didnt require a church until the 1500s.

Looks like Zaun will win District 3.

I'm surprised by how well BVP did in Polk County. I figured it would go to Branstad by a wide margin.

Seeing as polk county is fairly liberal, wouldnt surprise me if some dems jumped over and voted for VDP, since theres better odds there.
