    MLB Draft

    Cubs on the clock now.

White Sox took Chris Sale, a lefty from Florida Gulf Coast, and who BA had projected as the #4 draft prospect. A nice steal.

    Cubs take Hayden Simpson.

A shocker according to MLB Network.

Simpson was D2. The experts said he was "Top 200." but was picked 16.

It's amazing just how badly the Cubs are getting trashed for this pick.

Tim Wilken likes to take reaches in the first round for some reason. I don't get it.

The thing is he may have been a reach in the 5th round.

    Re: MLB Draft

    Cross,

not trying to be a downer but he was talked about coming to KC here for quite awhile and even though was thought to be at the big level within a year or two he was said to have a low ceiling and not a top 4 pitcher.
In fact, this past week they have labeld him a "situational lefty" which when puking big bucks doesnt sound really enticing.
Said he pitches down to his frame instead of staying tall and makes him a sidearmer that would be hell for the lefties but drops his 4 seam speed.

    Making a difference everyday!

Yep, seen the projections. But the Sox will obviously have him start unless there is no other option.

That being said, he was pretty universally labeled the best college pitcher available. He was still 90-93 and touching 96 and has a frame that can still fill out some. It was a given the Sox were going the college route, and he has the highest upside of any of the arms.

I've been looking at Futuresox.com coming into the draft. And like Arson said, Sale had been tied to the Royals at number 4.
