Well, it looks like this next week is going to be very interesting and could tell us a lot in what happens to the Big 12.

could it be that the Pac 10 and the Big 10 are planning on spliting the Big 12, each taking 6 teams and they are trying to divy up the chips right now?

This seems fishy too. Why not give Texas an ultimatum also? oh, yeah...

I wouldn't get my hopes up. We really need for the B12 to stick together. Outside of that, I don't see this ending well for ISU.

It sounds like Texas is pushing for the Big 12 to stick together because that is their best chance of securing the Longhorn TV network that they want.

It sounds like if Nebraska doesn't commit to the Big 12 by that deadline, then the six teams who are being invited by the Pac 10 would likely accept that offer. If Nebraska commits to us, then they'll stay.

I would guess that if Nebraska and Missouri sign new contracts everyone in the conference will have to sign new contracts re-affirming their commitment. Otherwise, NU and MU wouldn't have assurances that the rest of the conference would stick around.

Re: Report: Huskers, Mizzou face ultimatum

They should give them an ultimatum and either make them sign a contract with a $100 mil buyout or kick them out. If they do kick them out can they cancel their conference games for this year?

Would they really want to cancel their conference games for entire year? They have a chance to make some noise this year, then just to throw it away?

Re: Report: Huskers, Mizzou face ultimatum

Won't it be sad if the B10 only wanted expanded to one team: ND or TX. MU and NU wanting to be ask; try to play their hand with the B12. This discord sets in motion a plan by the Pac10 to invite 6 teams from the B12, instead of just CU (and Utah). The result may be Super conferences that none of the Conferences wanted, but is desired by sports media. I have a fear that these schools and conference are playing chicken with each other and it is going to force them to expand beyond their original designs.

This is not good for college athletics and they are starting to act more like for-profit businesses, with academics taking a back seat. This is a slippery slope that may lead to organizations losing their nonprofit status, players being paid, etc.

"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads

    Gonna be a WILD week

Well as we all know college athletics are probably going to be shaken up a bit. With the Big 12 giving a final set of demands to Nebraska and Mizzou we may find out ISU's fate sooner than we expected. Sure will be a wild week.

Yeah buddy. This **** is gonna get real very fast.

I'm really pulling for the Pac 10/Big XII merger if Miz/NU leave.
