    ISU to Big East?

I don't know if this idea has been discussed. Lets say the Big Ten takes Pitt and the Big XII dissolves, would ISU to the Big East be a reasonable option? Geographically it would'nt be the best, but the Big East isn't necessarily limited to east coast teams with Marquette and DePaul out of Milwaukee and Chicago, respectively. Obviously we have no history with any of those schools, but would this be a good idea for ISU or even a remotely possible scenario?

Well, Geographically it would be like what South Florida is to the Big East today.

    Re: ISU to Big East?

The only thing is neither DePaul or Marquette play football. The closest football school would be Louisville. Also, if the Big XII is completely dissolving, it probably means the Big Ten is taking more than one Big East school and the remaining ones are folding into the ACC.

This would be an awful idea. Our recruiting is going to be shot regardless, but our travel expenses would go through the roof!

We will be in the B12, P10 or B10 when all is said and done.

    Likely still the B12.

Would that be closer than Cinci?

This is a terrible idea for us. A ton of money in travel. I would rather move with 4-5 other teams to the MWC.

It's all snark from here on out

    Re: ISU to Big East?

Here is a question that IF this were to happen, how does South Florida deal with the geographical issue?

Yea, maybe Cinci...still...that would completely kill all the non-revenue sport budgets.

Travel isnt that big of a deal...
I can not imagine it putting us out of business flying to the east coast or Florida vs Texas or Colorado.

Yeah I know, but South Florida seems to be able to afford to fly all of their sport teams to the other Big East Member schools. If South Florida can do it, then I think we'd be able to find a way to fly out teams to the other schools as well.

We don't fly very often now in division. Manhattan, Lawrence, Lincoln, and Columbia are all bus trip. Now you'd have to pay to fly volleyball, women's hoops, tennis, golf, softball, track & field, soccer, etc. everywhere and those programs already lose a ton of money.

Could easily be offset by a nice Big East TV deal.

South Florida is in the middle of a HUGE recruiting territory that we have to pay to fly to get to...
