    JR leaving DEI

Hope he heads to RCR and drives the black #3 Budweiser Chevy...

    Re: JR leaving DEI

I hope they start putting C4 bumpers on the cars or ramps on the track so I can stay awake more than 5 mins when NASCAR is on.

I should start taping that stuff in case I have a bout with insomnia.

    Re: JR leaving DEI

I would love to see him at Hendrick but I don't think they have any room for him.

Is Harvick still driving the number 3 or did he change teams?

    Re: JR leaving DEI

I couldn't believe that when I read it. It sounds like he is going to race for his own company JR Motorsports and use chasis built by them but lease engines from Hendrick Motorsports.

There must have been some bad blood between him and Teresa for it to come to this...

Thanks for your input and taking the time to type a post about a topic you have no interest in.

Harvick NEVER drove the #3. The first race they kept the sponsor but changed the number to #29. They even took the "black and silver" off the car for the rest of Harvick's first season (he got a modified version of the black and silver from 2002 thru last season). GM Goodwrench got out of racing this year and that's why Harvick's driving the "cardinal and gold " #29 Shell.

The #3 has been off the market since Earnhardt died, and it's basically assumed the only one that will ever drive it again is an Earnhardt.

I hope Dale starts winning some races, and Jeff starts to lose some races.

I know you're being sarcastic, but yeah, actually I do.

DEI's been on a downward slide since Earnhardt died in 2001, and it's been apparent for the last couple of seasons.

2001-2004 no one could touch DEI on Super Speedways (the ones with the restrictor plate packages). JR and Waltrip owned both Talladega and Daytona. I remember in 2002 or 2003 at Talladega the top 5 in the last 5 laps was Jr and 4 Hendrick drivers (Gordon, Johnson, Labonte, and someone else). Jr. held off all four of them in a 1 on 4 situation to win. During those years Earnhardt was also competitive on tracks like Atlanta, Texas, Las Vegas, and one of the short tracks (I want to say Richmond).

Then Theresa does something stupid and splits up Jr's crew and Jr fails to make the chase in 2005. He rebounded last year, but he wasn't a serious contender.

It has also been painful to watch Jr at the Super Speedways the last several years because it's obvious he just doesn't have the equipment to compete there anymore. Case in point was this year's Daytona 500, where in the last 10 laps he was in the top 10, but during that period of time his car went straight backwards. He was in 19th when he got caught up in the big wreck, something that never happened before DEI's slide.

I honestly think Jr's gonna thrive under a program that has excellent equipment and an owner that actually CARES about racing (unlike Theresa, who was rarely ever seen at the track).

    Re: JR leaving DEI

Teresa is not even his real mother. It is his stepmom. I dont know if there is some bad stuff going on between them or not but I would say that there is if JR is leaving.

Personally I would like to see him go to Gibbs racing because I am a Stewart fan and I know Tony and JR are good friends and I actually hollar for both of them. It would be fun to see them on the same team but I doubt it will happen.

I've read in some supplemental articles online that he says that "it's the same relationship as when he was 4." If you listen to him during post-race interviews after big wins he's always quick to give props to "Theresa." I don't necessarily think the relationship is "good" or "bad," I just think "it is what it is."

I think Jr will thrive in any of the "big 3" Chevy teams, and Gibbs racing is my second choice (I too would love to see Stewart and Jr on the same team). There's just something about seeing an Earnhardt back on the track in a black #3 racing for RCR that gets to me, though. I think I rank my preference RCR, JGR, and HMS. I just don't want to see him start his own team with JRR (his company). I think that'll only lead to disaster.

    Re: JR leaving DEI

I'll believe it when I actually see him racing for another team. This is great leverage in his pursuit to buy DEI. Without him, the value of DEI drops considerably. Mommy dearest will be forced to sell at the price JR wants (I believe they already agreed JR would get 51 percent but they couldn't agree on the price).

    Re: JR leaving DEI

Someone told me over lunch that they'd heard JR was starting his own team - with Hendricks agreeing to build motors for the first 2 years ... anyone read or hear about this?
