    Good post.

Do you guys think they'll come back in the fall? Ames in June is a lot different than Ames during the school year. AND, it would be great if they could come to one of the early season games.

I would hope recruits and their families are smart enough to do some research on conference realignment possibilities instead of finding out through message boards that ISU may be on the outside looking into the BCS.

As far as spamming every thread with the MAC stuff, yeah, i'll agree with you that it's just kind of annoying.

Paul Rhoads is still the same guy. People aren't coming here for Ames. They are coming because they can see PR is the real deal. Those top tier guys often aren't as worried about the social aspect as the middle tier. they are coming here to propel themselves to the next level and to play football.

The players we recruit come to ISU to play in the Big 12...to play in BCS level football. CPR plays this up more than anything I would bet. If we leave the Big 12 it will devastate our recruiting...I don't think that will happen but the constant talk on ISU's #1 website can't be a good thing.

    Re: Visitors this weekend

ISU is a very easy sell to recruits IMO, as it should be. The hardest part is getting them on campus, so it's good to see top notch recruits making their way to Cyclone Nation

My post was not directed at yours at all. It was directed to the idea that campus is so much different in the summer as compared to fall. I was just saying that the high level players are here for one thing. To get to the next level. In some cases winning is huge to them but I think social life is a ways down on the list. Or at least it should be if your a 4-5 star guy.

Wouldn't part of their research involve reading the message boards to see what the fans think? Seriously.

Trent Flander? Are you serious. Flander was a 3-star recruit. I didn't see anyone flipping cartwheels because Flander signed with us. And Paul Fischer? Again, are you serious? Fischer was a 4-star, but he was not a top recruit. Heck, you only have to be breathing and sign with a Division 1A program to earn three stars as a juco. EVERY juco that Rivals has evaluated who signs with a D-1A school gets three stars.

Giorgio Newberry is a potential game changer who makes the defense better the second he signs. We may have signed better recruits, but they weren't Flander and Fischer, not even close.

If you've read the 9 million conference expansion threads... you should know not to take any of CF's conference expansion possibilities as actual "research".

And right there. If I took CF as research... i'd wonder who this Giorgio Bowers person was. I've heard of a Giorgio Newberry...

Uh, it is? If ISU was an easy sell, we'd be bringing in top recruiting classes every year.

I believe he covered that by saying "if we can get them to campus." And he's right. We have a good closing rate with this staff on players who visit. It's especially tough to get these high-profile players to visit when they have to choose from among Michigan, Miami, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Notre Dame among others to spend one of their five visits on like this guy does. Iowa State is going to lose those battles 90 percent of the time.

Giorgio Bowers is a RB we were recruiting last year who wound up going to Akron. I just got them mixed up.

Yeah, Paul Fischer just started at tackle for 2 years. Not a great player but very serviceable.

Flanders had great potential right up until he screwed himself up with behavior issues.

Webster Patrick was a 4 star recruit with Clearinghouse issues...couldn't get them resolved. Never fully developed at Juco...or got his academics straightened out.

Those examples are not a reason to stop going after highly rated players. I believe the Burnham's have connections to these guys.
