If report about Pac-10 is true, Big 12 may be in jeopardy | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

Larry Scott, the Pac-10 commisioner did kill the idea of invitations being sent out this weekend, say it will be a "deliberative process" & expansion plans won't be solidified at least until the end of the year, but they have had "incoming traffic" with schools contacting them......

You're not. You just built a new fire to add to the others.

If a team leaves the Big 12, they forfeit 50% of their revenue.

Now if 8 teams leave the Big 12, that could be a big windfall for the remaining 4 teams.

Which is great for about 5 months until you realize you have no conference left.

I still think the Big 12 can try and add a couple of teams itself, although I think that would be too late now unless the teams added were Notre Dame and BYU. What are the odds for that happening? Pretty much nil...

Whatever happens will be anticlimactic compared to all the hype. There are so many articles written on this topic somone is bound to be right.

Fox is driving this deal and I wouldn't be surprised if FOX would pay the revenues forfeited by leaving.

    .
    Exactly.

I wouldn't see how the remaining teams would be considered for the BCS bowl games and I'm sure that both Nebraska and Missouri would bolt to the Big 10.

Blogger speculation infiltrates main stream media, yet again. It's pathetic and amazing at the same time.

This situation (the Pac 10 taking 6 teams) is better than the Pac 10 taking Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, and a Texas school and then the SEC taking Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. And then the Big 10 takes Missouri and Nebraska. Then we would really be the only team left.

If 6 teams go, we'll still have a few teams in the Big 12. Hopefully, in that instance, the Big 12 tries to get a few teams.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! WE ARE GOING TO BE SCREWED!

In all seriousness, I think its funny how all these rumors come out and say its going to happen in the next 3 days. Then the next day everyone involved talks about how far away we are from a decision. It will be interesting to see how early we hear about true rumors before it actually happens.

Why would either Nebraska or Missouri not accept offers to join the Big 10 if all the other powerhouses have left the Big 12? It is much more likely that KSU, Kansas, Iowa State, and Baylor would be SOL if the six teams being targeted for the PAC 10 agreed to join the PAC 10.

I seriously hope you're joking. The Mountain West is desperately trying to become a BCS conference. Why would they NOT want to pick up a few BCS teams?

If the Big Ten was smart, they would think about taking five of the remaining six Big 12 schools. Sorry, Charley, Baylor.
