    Help Desk Software

    I am looking for a new Help Desk software to replace our current crappy one. Anyone out there have any suggestions. I am looking for something with a clean, easy to use interface that doesnt cost an outrageous amount. They paid 250 for our current one and it blows. It needs to be web based. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    What exactly do you mean by help desk software? Like trouble ticket monotoring or what?

    So what platform does it need to run on? We have ran RT (Request Tracker) for 5 years and have 40,000 tickets in it. It's great and it is open source. We run it on a Linux box with a couple of GB of memory. Check out Best Practical Solutions, LLC: RT: Request Tracker for any details. There's a large community around it to help out with any stumbling blocks.

    We ran ProjectTrack through Lotus Notes at my old job for help tickets. Really sucked. Ironically enough, you can't track projects in ProjectTrack, and it's not great for help tickets, either.

    We run Polar helpdesk software which integrates with AD.
    They didn't give us much money to spend, but its web based, cheap etc....If you have someone that programs I would try and purchased the source code and tweak it to taylor your company.

    We have about 1000 PC's in our environment if that gives you an idea and have 10 concurrent licenses for helpdesk. We have a deployment product called Altiris and are upgrading to use the helpdesk software that is integrated with that this year though.

    I have setup RT before, I agree it is not too bad. I also like bugzilla, it is also free.

    I don't know how large of needs you have but my company uses Peregrine Service Center. It seems to work pretty good from my limited experience using it.

    I used to work for Project InVision International. They are a project management software company. We used their software internally to keep track of help desk tickets, and route them to the correct person. It was VERY slick.

    Our corporate solution is Peregrine...avoid it like the plague. Our team has avoided getting moved to it so far, but I've not heard one good thing about it from other users and also my limited use of it.

    I'd say we need some more information like size of support team, and estimated number of tickets would help.

    I would say throughout our organization we get 50-60tickets a day. Our support team is divided up into two location with around 30 people.
