them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

Ross Perot for President 2012!!! He had a plan to eliminate the deficit by gradually increasing taxes on gasoline.

It better happen some day or we are setting ourselves up for a big fall. All it would take would be China to say one day, "we are buying no more US debt". It could happen very quickly right now as a matter of fact!

This is the most likely outcome. Either this or the US needs to have something everyone wants and needs. Honestly the other part of the world is probably just kicking back, waiting for us to consume ourselves then take over. It starts financially, then resources, then division of population. Its ugly and I wish I had the magic answer to fix it. Too bad it took 13 trillion to really generate the buzz. Why was there no concern back at 1 million?

It's alarming because in 1992 when the country was up in arms about our federal deficit, and it was one of the leading factors in the race for president, the deficit was only $290 billion.

There was, it was largely ignored. Just like it was ignored at $1 trillion, $5 trillion, and again at $10 trillion. The same people that were whining about us crossing $12 trillion are now "rah rah-ing" the spending over the last 1.5 years that pushed us over $13 trillion. Bottom line is America's going to have to crash before people get the picture.

Sorry, that was our budget deficit, not our debt. The debt in 1990's was actually around 3 trillion.
