    The Big 12 meetings

Anyone else been following the Big 12 blog on ESPN? Seems to be an interesting time, they have said no to revenue sharing and a Big 12 Network and have been trying to beg every one to stay....can someone please tell my why? Once again the Big 12 does not know how to change. I would love to be a fly on the wall down there, I mean the ADs are essentially competing over everything from money to tv time for their schools, what a mess, is the Big 12 considered a conference? Aren't conferences suppose to work together?

    Re: The Big 12 meetings

because Texas won't allow it, and the commissioner is scared of Texas.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

So, you want the Big 12 to start a TV network that isn't financially viable? That's going to help how? There's a reason why the Big 12 is talking to the Pac-10 about a TV deal/package/network.

And according to the blog, 82% of the revenue was equally shared in 2007.

But, nice job blowing things out of proportion...again...

On another note, some interesting links in the blog about the KU athletic department mess, and one link calling for Perkins to resign...

Right now commish beebee is down on his knees begging deloss dodds NOT to JOIN the big ten....

If I were DeLoss Dodds I would say to the commish...."If I stay in the big 12 I want a bigger share of the revenue to make up for the loss of revenue for NOT joining the premier big ten conference".....

Good Old Beebe would probably say something like...Yeah Mr Deloss Dodd's we'll just take it away from the north schools except Nebraska....

I got news for you commish beebee Nebraska and Mizzou are already gone to the big ten theyre just working out the details my main man!!!

    Re: The Big 12 meetings

I don't know who this guy's sources are, but right now, no one knows anything officially ATT. Seems to me this article is just some more FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) being spread about almost wantonly; certainly without regard to the emotional effect these stories are having on the fans. I agree with Beebe, a sixteen team conference is too unwieldy to manage efficiently, otherwise one of the "doomsday scenarios" being proposed would have happened years ago, and D1A college athletics would be dominated by handful of sixteen team "mega-conferences" for all sports. The whole picture, to me, becomes very fan unfriendly as traditional rivalries get blown up and the chances for upstart programs reaching the national spotlight are greatly diminished. Not only that, but with the these mega-conferences come exclusive TV deals that in the long run will alienate fans rather than attract them by pricing themselves out of most fans' pocketbooks. Smaller conferences with two small divisions, a championship game, and better non-conference scheduling on free, or nearly free TV is what the vast majority of fans want -- me included. Pay-per-view sports suck big time and would lose me as a big fan if college sports goes this route. Shoot, I get my sports fix anyway by watching my sons play. Watching college sports, ISU in particular, is like gravy on the potatoes; tasty, but not absolutely necessary.

    Re: The Big 12 meetings

I used to really enjoy the Olympics when it was about amateur athletes, but I rarely watch now.

Greed and power ultimately destroy things.. The chase for money will ultimately make college sports more about a select few, and will alienate many fans. Ratings may actually decline as a result.

The irony of colleges in high population areas is that many times they have less of a following then teams from small population bases.
