    Not surprised. If Pontiac couldn't make it, no way Mercury was going to.

    My first car was an 82' Mercury Grand Marquis. Loved that old boat. Bought in 98' with 32,000 original miles.

    Re: Ford officially ending Mercury brand

    Mercury was at it's best when it was an upscale Ford (more sound-deadener, more power, classier interiors, etc.) but when Ford moved up; there is no more room in between Mercury and Lincoln.

    What Ford has to be careful of now is that it doesn't cheapen Lincoln like it did with Jaguar. Ford had better make a BIG distinction between the Ford and Lincoln products or they both will suffer. I'm not sure I would put a small or entry-level Lincoln in the picture. A two-seater sports car maybe but no Fiesta or Focus sized vehicles. I'd also kick up the power and style on the MKZ so it didn't get compared to the Fusion.

    Whether you think you can or think you can't;
    you are right. Henry Ford

    Re: Ford officially ending Mercury brand

    Anymore the side brands are pretty much just the same cars of the parent brand with minor modifications.
