    Missouri to lose top recruit

Looks like Missouri's STUD recruit Tony Mithcell is not going to qualify to play. Huge huge loss for Missouri. This kid was considered one of the best players in the country and a top 15 player.

Jeez, a top 15 player (and 5 star recruit) who only got 3 offers- MU, Georgetown and North TX. Mizzou had to know htey were taking a huge risk with this kid.

Someone correct me if I am mistaken, this became a problem because "home school" credits are not transferable to a public school?

    Yes.

Missouri apparently lives by some academic rules also.

I find it weird Georgetown offered someone who ended up not qualifying.

Well is the DISD claiming that the exams he passed were done under false pretense...in other words......cheating? Or are they upset because this home school kid just made their public school system look silly with his performance on those exams? On the surface, it seems him not being able to make the grade is the problem. The problem is the pride of the public school system. And they are punishing this kid like a child taking their ball home when things aren't done "their" way.

Tony Mitchell has been a rumored non-qualifer for the whole year.

Mizzou recruit on grade probe report: 'LOL' - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

Well this makes it sound like he will be there.
I guess nobody really knows what's going on.

Re: Missouri to lose top recruit

Only real news is that he didn't graduate on time, I bet he will finish high school this summer and qualify for Mizzou by the fall.

"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."

I like how the kids mom is so clueless. Telling the station that did the report that it has been resolved and he will graduate.
