Ron is one of the greatest color commentators in the game, whether it be radio or tv. he's so fun to listen to, along with pat hughes. hope all is well with ronny and he can enjoy the next few days off with some cubs wins

Ronnie is loveable... count me as one of those that love him.. but he definitely isn't a great commentator.

Pat Hughes is incredible... I hope he stays on WGN for a long, long time.

100% agree on Pat. Ronnie is one of those guys that you love if he is your guy, but hate him if you are the opponent and have to listen to him.

Haha, that is 100% accurate. As a Cub fan, I love Ron because he pretty much takes the words out of my mouth when the Cubs do something stupid, like give up leads late in the game two days in a row.

I love it when Pat starts dissecting a guys name... He particularly points out when a guy has a first name that should be a last name... or vice versa... Ronnie just laughs at him... those are the moments that make Pat and Ron great.

Ronnie reminds me of Pete Taylor in the fact you only have to listen to him for a minute or two and you'll know immediatly how the game is going from the tone of his voice.

Pat Hughes does an awesome job calling the game and Ron's a great color guy.

Love listening to games with these two doing the announcing. Actually I like Len Kasper and Bob Brenly a lot on TV. Bob does a really great job in my opinion.

Ron isn't a great commentator but he is fun to listen to and he works great with Pat. Ron is emotionally invested in each game and its fun to listen to his excitement. Personally, I would rather listen to Ron and Pat on the radio over anyone else.

Re: Cubs Santo spends night in Hospital

I think Pat is a great play by play guy. Very underrated. I love Ron, but I don't think I would ever say he's a great commentator. He fits his role extremely well though. He's a homer, a cub fan and wears his heart on his sleeve. Pat gives you the game - and Ron gives you the passion.

I think Brenley is a very good color commentator.

As much as I'd hate to see someone else in the booth, for his own good I think Ronnie might need to hang it up. Seems like he just can't take the wear and tear of a season any longer. He has medical issues several times a year - one of these times it's going to go too far.
