Tell the clerk you want "the good stuff" then peer or point to the back room. I've found this works well in a lot of bars, pawn shops, and gun shops as well.

Always makes for good fun at night with two or more people and safety goggles.

I hope you don't live in Urbandale. Sounds like they are cracking down this year on fireworks according to WHO radio.

Just remember that it is somewhat cool to shoot them off from your driveway ON the 4th of July but before or after pretty much makes you a redneck. Just sayin.

Re: Going on a fireworks run

One of my personal favorites is the saturn missile. Comes in 25 or 100 shot I believe. Basically a bunch of whistler bottle rockets in a box, one fuse and then lots of noise.

Large rockets and long-lasting colorful shots are what you should focus on. Don't buy a bunch of bottle rockets unless you plan to have a BR fight. They are only good for filling the gap between the large shots and the fun wears off quick. Same goes for firecrackers or black cats.

Otherwise, the box sets they offer are actually not a bad deal. Typically have some items for the kiddies combined with large shot rockets.

    There was one?

And if you buy enough of the big stuff you should be able to get them to throw in the little things for free. Always see what kind of deals these guys will throw you, they just want to get rid of the stuff and will become more flexible with this the closer you get to the 4th.
