I read a great book about the dust bowl ( The Worst Hard Time by Tim Eagan) and it described dust storms that started in TX and went all the way to Washington DC before ther subsided. Great (and easy) read if you like history books. May father remembers red dust settling in western Iowa that came from TX and OK.
