    Football Poster

sorry if this has been brought up before, but...
I have the new poster hanging in my office and, during a phone call I was looking at it and noticed that "loyal sons for ever true" with the "for" and "ever" as separate words. It just didn't seem right, so I looked at the fight song on the alumni page and forever is one word there.
Anyway, i just noticed it and maybe it's been discussed before but I didn't see it.

Huh, you're right. I hadn't noticed that before, but being the grammar nerd that I am, it's now going to bug me every time I look at that poster...

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

    Re: Football Poster

I work in the printing industry, and often when something like this is printed, the designer or someone representing the customer will do a press proof. That is an inspection of the final copy as it actually comes off the press. Then that person gives the OK to print the job.
But maybe the two words is ok and how they wanted it. I just don't recall seeing it that way before.

    Thumbs down Re: Football Poster

Uhhh yeah and would it be safe to say that those football posters are waaay lame! Common I could have come up with something better than that. I'm thinking of tossing the 2007 poster and going back to 2006 with Todd Blythe.

Come on CloneBack Mountain, I would much rather have the man who will lead us to the promised land of college football on the poster than a slighty over-rated receiver that will be gone next year.

That's ok, I'm gonna be coming up with a desktop wallpaper that will blow away the posters...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Just keep in mind that that "slightly overrated receiver" of yours is gonna be one of the guys that helps Chizik get us to that promised land of yours. Hopefully this year...

    Re: Football Poster

I think forever is in two words because of the format of the poster itself. Each line is one line of the fight song, and it's all uniform in where it starts and ends on the sheet. Perhaps the best way to keep the uniform status was to split the word to help with the spacing.

Also, it's always bugged me that it's loyal "sons" when the girls sing it. It seems dated and sexist in that regard.

Are we really gonna go PC on something as trivial as a school fight song???

I was just saying it was something that's bugged me. How is it different than "forever" being split into two words bugging someone on a poster?

    Re: Football Poster

My post wasn't meant as a rip on anyone, especially not Blythe. I think he is a great reciever, no question. At the end of the day though, I think he has been a little built up over the last couple years and *GASP* SLIGHTLY over-rated.

No, it would not be safe to say that. To each his own, but I really like this year's poster. I think they did a great job with it.

"Common", don't you "waaay" like the edgy feel of it?
