Jim Hallihan's statement on a sold out Hilton...

I heard JH say at FH presser that he thinks the first game will be sold out, no empty seats. At the time, I figured it was more or less a rah rah type of statement...specially given the excitement of the presser.

Today...JH was on WHO and nearly 1 month later from the presser....he made the point to say it again...he believes that with Freddie and Grayer...the first game will be sold out. He also made a point that Hilton hasn't had a "sold out" game in a few years - which I believe is sadly true.

I got to thinking...normally we open with Arkansas State or some other directional school...and I have been going to home openers for years...and we have never sniffed a sell out, let alone 12K....of actual fans in the bldg.

Pretty bold statement to repeat. But is there anyway that Hilton can sell-out for the home opener?

I will say this...IF that happens....Hilton could be special again next year.

The student section will be far from full, because none of the students at all will remember Hoiberg playing.

Re: Jim Hallihan's statement on a sold out Hilton...

Well im going to be a junior and i somewhat remember Freddie playing at at ISU and can really remember following his nba career. From the students i'm hearing from there will be more students in cyclone alley than last year.--

I don't know about selling out the opener but i wouldnt bet against a few good big 12 games being sold out. (that is if we can at least match the non-conference record from last year)

I think it'll be decently full for a season opener, but it won't be sold out.

JP may make it into a sell out with lots of promos and $5 tickets, it wouldn't be the first time he did all he could to get people in seats.

I'll be doing my part and helping it to be a sellout by being there.

I work with the weirdest, most random group of people up in Ames and I knew Hilton would see sell-outs when they started talking with me about FH and how excited they were for the cyclone basketball season to start. I had no idea they even liked sports.

Re: Jim Hallihan's statement on a sold out Hilton...

Not a chance. When ISU barely sells enough to fill it for Iowa or KU it won't for the first game of the year. I've been a season ticket holder for a few years and have rarely missed a game, so I know how much Hilton normally fills up.
If we weren't selling out games last year when a good majority of fans thought we'd make the NCAA tourney why would we now? With a first year head coach?
I like FH as much as anyone but it will not happen unless free tickets are given out.

I'm interested to see what kind of season ticket packages are offered this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see 11k-12k season tickets sold as we sold more than 10k in recent years.

I think the non student buyers will be there in force. Especially if Jamie gives some sort of a bargain for the seats. If Freddie would sell out the first game it would be awesome. I have a feeling that it will be hyped beyond any other game in recent history. It is possible, go clones....

Only chance it happens. If they are free then its probably not a sell out then?

It's also technically possible Jessica Biel shows up in my bedroom drunk and frisky, but I'm not counting on that to happen either.

Season ticket sales will be up around 11k. There will be a larger than normal crowd in Hilton for the 1st game. Won't be a sellout without practically giving away some tickets though.

I absolutely believe that Hilton will be sold out for that first game, and for plenty of games this year (and not because Kansas bought a bunch of tickets).

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
