    Re: MBB Assistant Coach Question

No real rumors or names of candidates have leaked as far as I know. Latest I heard was there is no rush and it may be several more weeks before we hear anything.

"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."

Yeah, right! And I just won Powerball.

I don't think we'll know until, maybe, the end of June, early July at the earliest, and as late as, maybe, the end of September? All I'm waiting for is for the NBA draft to conclude and see what happens as far as Fred's coaching search is concerned.

    Re: MBB Assistant Coach Question

If you subscribe to the theory that the next assistant is still coaching in the NBA playoffs and Fred is waiting for that team to be done to announce it then check out the OP here...

    http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...andidates.html

    Thibodeau
    Hill
    Eastman
    Malone
    Bay

    Are the coaches left.

I like the way Fred has been able to keep this relatively quiet.

    Re: MBB Assistant Coach Question

I think the decision has probably already been made but if you have been paying attention to other Iowa State assistant hires, Ath Comm has to wait for the paperwork to come through until they post anything related to the coach. So this could be a very real possibility!

I hope you're not serious. He's a candidate for the HEAD spot in New Orleans. No way he comes here as an assistant.

Don't confuse hope for a plan.

    Re: MBB Assistant Coach Question

Bill Cartwright, a phoenix suns assistant, was Fred's head coach during part of his playing days in Chicago....Seems to have the most connection of the assistants from the playoffs.....

Could be Fred's scouring the countryside for the Dad/coach of some McDonald's all-American so he can bring his knowledge, (and son).

    Re: MBB Assistant Coach Question

Thibodeau just turned down the Hornets. Appears he would rather take the Bulls or Nets job as Head Coach. Ironically, no mention of him being a candidate for the Assistant Job at Iowa State.

Sources: Tom Thibodeau turns down Hornets, who turn to Monty Williams - ESPN
