    High school senior prank

Kind of funny senior prank. I'm of the opinion that sometimes the schools overreact to this type of thing. So it is kind of of nice to see a school not get too worked up about it and kids do a prank that causes no damage and actually give some money to cover the cleanup. Senior prank at Hampton-Dumont elicits smiles, also concern over school access

It could pass for art... seriously. Whoever organized this had some aesthetic sensibility. When my dad graduated they put chickens in the dropped ceilings with a bunch of food. I guess the smell was awful.

Good prank. Nice and clean, nothing hurt. DOn't see a reason for them to be punished I guess if no damage was done.

Ha! Sounds like about 1/4 of the graduating class participated. I understand the concern about trespassing, but think, for the most part, the principal had a good attitude about the whole prank. Three hours of community service that will be put to use sprucing up the football bleachers is a respectable "punishment", IMO.

    Re: High school senior prank

I went to a small school in Iowa. It was relatively new, but there were still numerous ways to gain access at night. I know because we did.....Unless these schools install video surveillance, kids will find a way to get in.

    My school

We had a fire escape hatch above our stage. It had an emergency pull cord on the inside, and outside. No alarm on it. It took someone with any athletic ability less then 10 seconds to scale a corner with a down spout to gain access to the roof. Once on the roof, simple pull of the cord, 10-12 foot drop and you are in. If we planned a ahead, we would just leave a step ladder on the stage below the hatch the night before.

Window- we could leave a window just slightly open, like 1/32 of an inch, and it would be able to be opened from the outside. Our windows were sliders that you could just about walk through.

If those two didn't work, you could get the keys from the janitor for a 6 pack of Bud......

We never vandalized our school once, stole property from them, or any teachers or students. I'm not sure why we went in all the time, I think just because we could....

Wow - that's some serious effort for a prank.

Seems like both sides handled it well. School can't really advocate breaking and entering.

At least the school and authorities aren't making a federal case out of it like many other places.

My classmate's grandfather put SKUNK SCENT SACKS on a radiator during the winter of his senior year. They had to shut down for two days. Of course that could have been in the 30s, when the schools were smaller.

Spot on response. I totally agree with the school administrator's response.

Ok, my question is what high school doesn't have an alarm system? I don't understand how you can't. My hs was the same size and same conference as Hampton and there was no way we could have got into the school and that was six years ago.

I'm pretty sure my alma mater doesn't, and even if it did, half of the athletes knew the combinations to get in the real doors anyways.

The best prank I've ever heard of involved some kids releasing 3 pigs into the high school.

    They were marked 1, 2, and 4.

I heard about that one too. Classic. I don't remember where it was though?

I think it's been done a few times.
