    "Law and Order" Final Episode

I know there aren't many Law and Order fans here, but it seems that every other show finale gets a thread...

The episode last night wasn't really supposed to be a "final" episode, since the producers didn't know until a couple of weeks ago that L&A wasn't being renewed.

Anyway, I thought it was a great episode. It was cool to see Jack McCoy break out a little bit and ask somebody "just how far is your head up your ***".

I heard on the news last night there may be a couple of episodes or an L&A movie next year to give the show a more proper closing.

I'm sad to see L&A go. I've actually been watching it for 20 years...started back in college. Except for a few episodes here and there, it's always been well written and thought out, solid but not overly flashy. It did require an its viewers to have somewhat of an attention span to follow the plot turns and twists, which might have been its downfall...

Personally, I think this was the best part of the final episode.

I like Criminal Intent the best, but I did like Law and Order. Really lost track though after Lenny Briscoe was gone.

I don't think it was ever the same since Jerry Orbach passed away.

Law and Order has been a great show....but agree that I haven't watched as much since Orbach passed away. Criminal Intent was one of my favorites for awhile...but just kind of lost interest in that show as well...still though all 3 are pretty good TV. Anybody remember L&O Trial by Jury? That didn't last but a few weeks.
Next Fall we get L&O Los Angeles.

I liked the original better when he was on the show, but recently I like SVU better.

I quit watching SVU mainly because of the child abuse cases. I know it happens, I don't care to watch a show about it.

I did enjoy the parade of female ADAs on L&O.

Re: "Law and Order" Final Episode

I didn't even bother with the final episode. I lost interest after too many of my favorites left the cast.

I came to "L&O" late — after it had entered syndication, so I caught up with a lot of the earliest seasons after-the-fact, then followed it a while.

I agree with those who said it wasn't the same without Orbach/Briscoe. And I never liked the show without Adam Schiff (Steven Hill) as DA.

Like most L&O followers, I had specific cast combinations I liked better than others. The first seasons I saw had Orbach, Bratt, Merkerson, Waterston, Hennessey and Hill, so that combo still works well overall because that's where I cut my teeth. But after a while I preferred shows with Noth & Moriarty in their respective roles.

I found it to be a fitting ending to a great show. I liked the final scene with just about all the players present. I really liked this cast the last 2-3 years!

I agree with both of these, completely.

Yeah, I really didn't have a problem with this cast, or any of the other combinations over the years for that matter. I think this last season they had worked into their roles quite nicely. It was a nice twist to see McCoy having to reign in his chief ADA, just like he had to be reigned in when he was the chief ADA. I didn't particulalry care for Dianne Wiest as the DA...she didn't seem to have that gruff old man personna fitting of the DA job that Hill, Thompson, and now Waterston had.

Not even close, the original is, and always will be, the standard by which courtroom dramas are judged.
