great read. lets hope he can put the critics to rest in a couple years when ISU athletics are at that next level.

Anyone notice that quote about being "a builder, not a maintainer"? That's as clear of an indication as I could think of to say that once Iowa State is up and running, he might be looking for the next gig. I'm not going to freak out just yet, since it's a long road, but look out 5-7 years from now.

That is good and bad, if he leaves ISU because we are successful, then I am happy. I would like to keep JP for a long time, but I never saw that happening.

That being said, are we really worried he is leaving soon? This is going to take more than 5 years to rebuild. The football team is going to be really really bad for the next few years.

JP will be leaving, and hopefully he will stay long enough to right the ship so the next guy doesn't have the disaster that Pollard walked in to. I never saw JP as a guy that is going to be at ISU or anywhere for more than 5 or 6 years.

Re: Great ADJP Article in CR Gazette

Yeah the article pretty much spells it out. But the good news is he probably won't move on till the building is done, and ISU will be much better for it.

We will have to see what "building" means. I consider it still building until we consistently via for titles. So if that is the situation he leaves us in, I will be happy to see him gone :)

Re: Great ADJP Article in CR Gazette

    Great article.

I hope JP sticks around at least 10 years, but maybe he'll build that success sooner then that and if he does, I don't think any of us will complain about that?

The other thing is he's pretty young yet and places you live can tend to grow on you and your family. 5 years from now, he may be attached to Ames enough he may not want to leave.

Either way it's a win win situation for ISU.

By the time he gets his dream completed (stadium renovations and overhaul of the atheletic program), he will be in his 50's, he might not want to start over with a new project. He might just want to sit around and enjoy his success and collect a 6-7 digit paycheck.
