    Chicago Trip

Wife and I are going to a couple Cubs games at the end of this week and 1 day to do whatever there before we leave. Staying downtown right off of Michigan Ave. Any suggestions on places to see/eat?

Already on the agenda: Navy Pier, one of the piano bars, Gino's Pizza, Harry Caray's, ESPN Zone.

I hope you drink a lot of beer to ease the pain of the Cubs getting beat by the Cardinals.

Assuming the weather cooperates, I'd take one of the architecture tours. Lots of different options (boat, bus, foot, etc.), its a good way to see lots of the city.

I was just about to post the same thread. I am going June 11-14. Hoping to See a Cubs vs. White Sox Game, going to a Phish concert (insert dirty hippie comment here). I have done a lot of the touristy things, so I am looking for some things to do that are a little off the main path.

I don't think I would be able to get within ten feet of those. I have a hard enough time with the glass panel in the floor in the new Guthrie Theatre and that is just a few stories up.

I'm not the same 5 year old kid that stood on the railing and leaned over on the glass on the observation deck of the John Hancock building years ago.

We have bleacher seats for that game. Only been to 2 other games at Wrigley before so excited to finally get to see one from the bleachers this time. Friday have some on the 3B side right under the overhang I think.

    Re: Chicago Trip

Just got back from there, my wife and I saw two games against the Rockies. Had alot of fun we went to the aquarium but I really would not recommend it, it was nice but once you add in tickets for two and parking there is much better ways to spend eighty bucks.

    103 stories. (1,353 feet)
1.5" thick glass. Extends 4.3 feet out. Designed to hold about 5 tons.

We spent alot of time in the Oak Brook/ Lombard areas of the suburbs. They had some good shopping and good eating there. We actually stayed in Willowbrook Illinois except for the commute into Chicago everyday (took 2 and a half hours one day, for a typical half hour drive).

Excellent suggestion from my tubby friend Schriner. If you have the time, read "Devil in the White City" before your trip. It'll lend some historic reference to the architecture of Sullivan and Burnham, as well as insight into the Ferris Wheel, various city parks and mass murderers!

Hate to say it, but without the World's Fair of 1893, Chicago would be Detroit...

I would say Giordano's over Gino's east any day. Lou Manetti's is also better but I don't think you are close to one down town. Espn Zone isn't that cool but definitely his the establishments right by Wrigley(Goose Island Brewery, Sluggers, Cubby Bear)

A must at night is dessert at the top of the Hancock Building, the view with the lights is incredible(you can see the Michigan shoreline with the correct conditions. Also, don't hesistate to call a couple Limo rental places, if they are slow you can get a good deal and if you want to hit several places just for a drink and then move on and sight see it's not much more than a cab and WAY more convienent.
