    MBB Recruiting! (long)

When looking at three of the offers the staff has out for 2009.. Elijah Johnson, Royce White, Jamil Wilson. It is hard not to be very excited about the future of ISU basketball. I know we haven't landed any of them but just thinking about what could happen is exciting.

Elijah Johnson- Elijah Johnson was the best 2009 point guard we saw over the weekend. Well-built and explosive, Johnson has a load of talent as a slasher and playmaker. He is a sure fire five-star if he improves his jumper, and that is exactly pn what he is focused.

Royce White- (Jerry Meyer- Rivals Recruiting)
I certainly haven't seen enough 2009 prospects to give a definite answer, but I feel pretty good about Royce White's chances of being a five-star prospect. A 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward, White looks to have the total package. Here is a series of plays I witnessed at the Kingwood Classic: White effortlessly knocks down a three-pointer, grabs a man-sized rebound in traffic and then drives left and hits a mid-range runner.
He also handles the ball with poise and has the versatility to defend both on the perimeter and in the interior. With a lot of young prospects most of the talk is about potential and upside. With White it is more about what he can already do, and that's refreshing.

Jamil Wilson- The 6-foot-7, inside-out forward led his team to a 16-and-under division championship and a stellar showing in the championship rounds.
Wilson has potential for five-star status in the class of 2009. He's a versatile banger that can stretch a defense because of his perimeter skills. He has also displayed good athleticism.

Looking at three of the offers that are out, those three prospects are said to be potential five stars. We always talked about how good we thought Wayne Morgan was at spotting talent before anyone else could, but I'm thinking the staff we have are even doing better. When you look at two of the prospects that the staff is going after for '08 in Tyler Zeller and Terrence Jennings you can see the staff definitely spots out talent early! Zeller went from being ranked as a 3 star 105th best player in the country he moved all the way up to 16th in the latest rankings. Jennings went from being a 3 star ranked as the 102nd best player all the way up to the 9th best player drawing comparisons of Amare Stoudemire.

A lot of people will probably say nothing really matters yet because we haven't gotten committments from any of these guys. But it is really exciting to think about what could happen with the talent level this staff is looking at!

Spotting young talent is only have the battle. We have to get one or two of these players play for us instead of always against us.

You are correct in your conclusion, but if you don't make contact early with these young men you have no chance in you're an ISU. So the fact that they have been offered is a very big step in the right direction.

We also need an open scholarship for 09. Thompson will be our only junior, unless we bring in a JUCO.

Many things are half the battle. Losing is half the battle. Winning is half the battle. Let's think about what is all the battle.

We may not get any of these guys but the fact that we are on them so early is a really good sign.

shows how vapid n phony recruit experts are

Royce White sounds just like Vette except 35 pds lighter and 2 inches shorter and there saying he should be 5 stars, yet Vette was barely a 2 star.

I know you love Vette, but come on.

White effortlessly knocks down a three-pointer,
Vette doesn't effortlessly knock down threes, not even close.

    Re: MBB Recruiting! (long)

A new 09 recruit ISU has offered is small forward Rodney Williams. ISU and Minny have offered him as you can see in this free article!

Howard Pulley had a great ride in Kansas and seemed to have all of the ingredients to claim the title. Sophomore wing Rodney Williams was the showman for the Minnesota club in the finals. He was hitting three pointers and had one of the best dunks in the tournament when he drove baseline on the right side and cocked it back with a two hand flush.

His confidence grew as the tournament went along and he stepped into the spotlight quite nicely. The 6-foot-5 bouncy sophomore has offers from Minnesota and Iowa State while Kansas State, Kansas, Northern Iowa and Wisconsin are on his list.
