    Big 12 - Voted 2nd Best Conference

On Phil Steele.com, the Big 12 was voted the 2nd Best Football Conference behind the SEC.

Please vote for the ACC who is only 40 votes behind the crappy Big 10 for the 3rd Best Football Conference.

I really don't see much of a debate (and I am a die hard Big 12 fan and HATE the big 10) but the top three are SEC, Big 12, & Big 10 in that order. Pretty cut and dry; SEC is the king when it comes to football.

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

I think the ACC and Pac 10 are better than the Big 10, but that is my personal feelings.

I would also consider putting the MWC infront of the big 10, the Top Teams in the MWC (Utah, TCU, BYU) are better than the Top teams in the Big 10, but that isn't really saying much.

Re: Big 12 - Voted 2nd Best Conference

Can someone explain to me just how the B12 is going to be awesome this fall?

NU looks set up for a good season. OU/UT will transition a little but still be solid. I expect ATM to finally come on strong.

The North is getting better overall, and if CU can get its act together will help close the gap between divisions. I'm just not seeing a NC contender on the bunch. Outside of UT and OU on sheer athletes alone, I have severe doubts the B12 has a set of teams that will play at a high level on both sides of the ball.

I think it's been pretty consistent over the last decade really. If you look at Title appearances and/or wins it's probably right on line.

    1. SEC
    2. Big 12
    3. Big 10

Phil Steele's 2008 Final Conference Rankings:

    Are you Sitting Down?

    1. SEC
    2. Big 12
    3. Pac 10
    4. MWC
    5. ACC
    6. Big 10
    7. Big East

Again, that is Phil's Final 2008 Conference Football Rankings. I'll be interested to see what he has to say for 2009, the Big 10 showed a little more a pulse, but still pretty crappy. You also need to know that this magazine is Published in OHIO. UP, Buckeye country. But that is why I love Phil, he's pretty honest.

Showed a a little more pulse? Their 4 bowl wins came against 4 top 12 teams and the Big Ten ended up with 3 teams in the top 10.

Re: Big 12 - Voted 2nd Best Conference

Outside of USC and Oregon the PAC 10 has no one that can contend nationally.

The ACC has only Miami and VT, and they have been rather subdued in recent years. Esp. Miami

The Big 10 always has at least 1 team that can/could battle with the Big boys from the SEC/Big 12. I'm no Big 10 fan but to me it's pretty obvious they are superior to the PAC 10 and ACC.

I shouldn't respond in this thread since I am in the minority because I like the Big 10. Go Illini!

Understand your feelings but I've lived here since graduating from ISU (21 years) and I would vote every mid-major before the ACC. It will take too long for me to go into all the reasons I despise them.

Re: Big 12 - Voted 2nd Best Conference

As much as many of us may not like the Big 10 for whatever reasons, it is extremely hard to say they are weaker than the ACC and Pac-10, IMO. No matter what your criteria, whether it be bowl wins/appearances, Top 10 finishers, NC appearances/wins, BCS-game appearances/wins... how is the overall ACC or Pac-10 better than the overall Big 10 conference? Just dont see it.

If you're talking about last year or coming into this year, they're not. Blind hatred of the Big 10 is the only gauge people use when they say something like that. At season's end last year the Big 10 was clearly the second best conference in the country to the SEC. Coming into this year, the Big 10 has more top-10 and top-25 teams than the Big 12, ACC, Pac 10, etc. in pretty much every preseason poll. Yes, preseason polls are crap. But if someone's going to play the 'your conference sucks' game at this point in the year, they're all we've got to go by.

I realize you hate the Hawkeyes, but you have to realize that OSU, Iowa, Wiscy would likely go 3-0 or 2-1 against those three teams don't you?

The middle teams would destroy the MWC counterparts and the bottom teams.....well anything can happen with two crappy teams.
