For a defense that is most assuredly going to improve (giggle), the Huskers only have two on the first team defense. Living in Omaha, I'm told almost daily that this defense will be equivalent to the '85 Bears.

I have a hard time fathoming how A-Rob fell to the 3rd team. I can justify Thomas and Murray on the first team on talent alone but let's see Murray get through a full season without being hurt first.

A-Rob outperformed Helu last year and did so missing a full game and a half and being injured in several other.

A-Rob certainly played better in the head-to-head matchup between the two when ISU played at NU last season...

Re: Phil Steele's pre-season All Big 12 teams

Is no one going to mention that David Sims and Ben Lamaak were second team, K.O was third team and Leonard Johnson was fourth team??

Or are we just going to be negative for a while longer?

having 5 players mentioned on these lists is pretty good seeing where we were just a couple years ago.

The fact is that 2nd team is too low for Sims. I expect he will improve in coverage and IMO that makes him the best safety in the Big 12. We will have to see what Lamaak does but he could be 1st team.

I agree with your point though. That is a lot of guys for ISU to have on those lists. Hopefully some others out perform expectations and get their name up there. I think AA has a chance to make a list somewhere and it would be nice if a receiver threw his hat in the ring.

Without Haughton just might be true, when was this published?

Re: Phil Steele's pre-season All Big 12 teams

Murray as first team AA? No. Not happening.

Also, I think that's a little premature to pick a QB that has been hurt for a whole year at the 4th team spot. That said, I don't think you could put AA in that spot, as of right now. I think he could easily finish there, but he's not there yet.

Re: Phil Steele's pre-season All Big 12 teams

North Carolina's defense may be the best in the country and certainly has the most NFL talent, but it's still staggering to see 3 first team AA's and then 1 second team AA. Glad they're not in our conference.

I still don't think their offense is going to be that good. The day I see a complete team come out of the ACC, well, I don't know what I'll do. But I'll be surprised.

Of course you fail to mention SC Cy, that those two players, Crick and Amukamara, are also on Steele's first team All America team. You also fail to mention that five of Nebraska's 11 starters on defense make Steele's All Big 12 team.

    Nice try, though!

Anyone else wanna bet that if A-Rob and Helu switched teams, A-Rob would be 2nd team, and Helu would be third?

Didn't you see the smilie? That's the "I'm shaking and screaming in fear of the mighty Husker defense" one. It's new.

Oh my God, whatever will poor ISU do against the Better-Without-Suh Defense? ISU will be lucky to get the ball out of its own redzone!
