I can hardly wait to not buy one.

I think the point of posting was probably to show that EIU knows its fans probably aren't overly excited about Buttlicker and so they aren't going to raise the prices of the tix. If they did you would probably be able to hear crickets at Carver Crap-I arena.

I highly doubt this. I think it basically shows that they know they will have enough fan support and revenue coming in that they don't need to increase ticket prices.

Do you really believe that Iowa couldn't use the extra income. How about a practice facility? The job of the Athletic Dept. is to maximize revenue. The fact that they are not increasing ticket prices shows that they aren't willing to take the chance of selling fewer tickets.

Just FWIW, Iowa is building a practice facility for the basketball program. And of course the AD could use the extra money, but remember, the U of I is one of the few athletic departments in the country running on a surplus.

And I don't think the Hawks need to raise ticket prices yet - why would they? Wouldn't make sense to me, it has nothing to do with fan support for the new coach, it has everything to do with not wanting to raise prices without any reason to.

Does Iowa have it approved through the regents to start contruction, or are they in the planning and fund raising phase like ISU with the practice facility?

They have enough support with the place half empty for every home game?

That comment right there is a prime example of Pukeye arrogance. It don't have anything to do with fan support, huh, then why do you read newspaper articles talking about how Alfraud wasn't filling the arena last year? It was more then just proving people didn't like the coach.

The fact is, they are having troubles filling Sewer City arena and knowing that raising prices would lower attendance when they are not going to be very good this year(the worse they are, the happier I am). It's that kind of arrogance that is going to turn EIU into EIUCC, and the sooner the better.

No reason to raise prices and if they did can you imagine the uproar that would cause among the fans who are already upset with the pricetag for Lick as it is. they are most likely overpaying by at least 500,000 right now. Hope that works out for them, easy to spend away and not pass the bill on to the fans right away while running on a surplus, I suppose.

I believe it's been passed, and they are going to do most of the fund-raising themeselves, and use minimal state funds. I read somewhere that they'll just use football revenue, but I'm not sure. I'll find a link.

If by half full, you mean 11,000 + fans per game (good for 25th in the nation, ahead of ISU), then yes, with money from "half full" carver.

Pukeye, how original. Personally, I'd view the fact that Iowa was still in the top 25 in the nation in regards to fan support, as well as averaging 11,000+ sold tickets per game as decent fan support, given the circumstances under Alford. That may just be me, but it would also seem that you are letting your blind hatred for the U of I get in the way of common sense - Iowa's fan support was phenomenal the past few years for the seasons they had.

I think those figures were based on the previous season, where Iowa fans were treated to all those home court upsets. I'd be very surprised if Iowa was in the Top 25 for attendance this year.

Nope, those figures were this year's numbers. Iowa averaged roughly 120 more people per game than ISU. The previous year, the 25-9 year, Carver's attendance was actually lower. So, attendance has gone up.
