Wonder how long it is going to be until this is all there going to be talking about on ESPN for a week?

    Re: Hancock was an idiot

You never like to see someone die and this is bad. The guy seemed to be pushing life to its limits. I pray for his family.

Wow, someone should have been helping this kid out, not pushing him to come to another party (Edmonds). At least he did not take out a family or anything along the way.

you are correct, twojman. They also found pot in the car. This didn't just happen overnight. The Cardinals did nothing to help the guy or to protect their investment.

    Re: Hancock was an idiot

29 yrs old and diving 2 times over the legal limit while on the cell phone?
Pot found in the Rental car along with a glass pipe.
Not really the teams place to protect thier investment.
    PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!
It was Josh's job to protect his investment and his life, not the Cardinal's.
Most 29 year olds do not have the luxuries that are afforded to a MLB player, now the MLB organization has to walk you home and tuck you in?? Feel sad for his family but if this was a lifestyle for him then you have to just be glad that no one else was hurt.

He wasn't wearing his seat belt either.

    And he was speeding.

    Re: Hancock was an idiot

Good lord it keeps sounding worse - was he reading the paper and putting on make-up too? Its a sad deal but no worse than when it happens hundreds of other times a year with young folks that arent major league baseball players.

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

    Re: Hancock was an idiot

Not to defend him, but there are some other things the media is either ignoring or choosing not to say...THe clearance between the median and the tail of the tow truck on the stretch of highway was less than a foot wider than the truck...They initially reported that the tow truck had all its lights on, this is false, The truck only had its regular lights on. Yes, he was legally intoxicated, but I am sure MANY of us, including myself have driven at that level of intoxication... It's sad that people choose to take bits and peices of the story to make it seem one way...

Are you really defending a guy who
    1. Was driving drunk
    2. Had drugs in his car
    3. Was speeding
    4. Was talking on the cell phone
    5. And wasn't wearing his seat belt

He made all of these poor decisions (at once), he knew what the consequences are. It's sad, yes. But to defend his isn't even close to right.

    Re: Hancock was an idiot

Bad mistake? Yes. Need to call him out as an idiot? No.

We can all be so lucky that our own mistakes haven't led to something so terrible.

It's horrible to see someone go this way, but you all need to chill out on calling him an idiot. Show some respect for him and his family.

Let's hope this serves as a warning to those "many" of you who choose to drive drunk.

He's an idiot. Just like I would be an idiot if I did the same thing. No excuse.

Not to mention the fact that he was in another accident 3 DAYS EARLIER!
