Valedictorian proposes to boyfriend during graduation speech

Valedictorian proposes to boyfriend during graduation speech

Valedictorian Emily Hawley proposed to her long time boyfriend Josh Walker during her commencement speech at New Jersey's Centenary College.
I wonder if they planned this together?

I still don't understand why a girl would propose to a guy. No disrespect, but it just seems weird to me.

What it really screams is...his leash was taken away a long time ago. Stand up for yourself and be a man.

gotta say, I strung it out for just a shade under a decade, but even my wife didn't call the game and ask me instead. If it goes that far you know it's played out. I sure wouldn't be able to hold my head up after that.

I always thought that women who propose should get the guy like a 90 inch big screen.

It would work just like a diamond for the ladies.
    1) can you see a guy showing off his ring, no! but 90 inch engagement plasma, and the whole town will know you got a woman you ain't lettin' go of.
    2) not much would restore some life to the ol' ball bat like showin off the 90 inch plasma.

That's what I thought too. You would think giving a speech in front of the whole class and their families would be enough attention for that type of person.

If my girlfriend proposed to me, I'd say no, not because I don't want to marry her, but because it doesn't work that way.

This would allow him to keep at least half his man card. Two months salary must be spent on my engagement TV .

I found this to be an incredibly romantic gesture on her part. Why all the hate? Simple jealousy that you guys just grunted out a proposal while wearing jeans and a football jersey?

These two obviously have a special bond and it is something we should all respect and work to obtain. I salute them. Instead of knocking them, maybe a few of you should rent some movies this weekend and sit on the couch with your wife and hold hands. I suggeset the following movies:

    The English Patient
The Truth About Cats and Dogs
    You've Got Mail
    Sleepless in Seattle
Pretty Woman (I DARE you to try and keep a dry eye when Richard Gere climbs the balcony at the end of the movie)
And my ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE--Love Affair (remake of An Affair to Remember)

    You men are welcome.

Pretty sure he couldn't before that.
Also, this is extremely disrespectful to everyone else at graduation. The graduation was about all of them, not just the two standing at the front. As others have said earlier, it says "Look at me!"
