    Memorial Stadium in Lincoln

Recently my sister-in-laws new hubby, who was born and raised in Nebraska, was up for a visit and we all got to drinking a bit and having a good time. This guy, we'll call 'Frank' is a huge huskers fan, but took all my ribbing I gave him after last years' game (which he was in attendance, and only found out afterwards that I was a Cyclone fan because he had to sell one of his tickets and would have invited me to the game if he only knew) at Memorial Stadium. He tries to get back at me with jabs of his own, but I don't let it bother me and that is why he says that he really respects me for taking all his gruff...not your typical husker fan.

Anyway, after a few beers my sister-in-law was trying to explain to us about one of her clients that she was cutting hair for because she usually can get them talking, but this woman only said that she worked at the penitentiary. 'frank' then spoke up and said 'honey, she works at the correctional institution and that the penitentiary is in Lincoln' which I promptly piped up and said "Well yeah, it's called Memorial Stadium!" frank could only bow his head, give a hearty chuckle, and say...'you're right!' as we laughed into the night!

Just thought I'd share that with everyone...hopefully I didn't ramble on too long!

I'm sure it's in there somewhere, but I really didn't get anything out of this that had to do with Big Ten expansion. You may need to start another thread to get your point across plainer!

Maybe he meant that they pack them in like sardines at Memorial Stadium. Thre current butts do not fit the original seat widths.

Johnny Rogers robbed a convience store half way through the season. Huskers fans forgave him and he played in the next game. True story.

I made a clever anecdote the other night. I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was hilarious. We all had a good laugh. Then we went home and I ate some pizza.

Didn't Lawrence Phillips run over some kids with his car after a pick-up football game? Plus, didn't he punch a chick in the face....and still played in the Orange Bowl?

Jamaal Lord is my favorite all time Husker. They should bring him back.

Not to mention that you only have enough knee room if you are under 4' 6" tall. Actually most of the original seats on the sides are decent, but that's only about 30% of the seating. Most of the seats at Memorial Stadium are below average. The endzone seats can be OK if the action is on your end, but suck when it's the other end of the field. Another drawback is that the ramps and stairs are not designed for the number of fans trying to get in or out so there are unacceptable waits involved at half-time and before and after the game.

    Re: Memorial Stadium in Lincoln

nope, not another expansion thread...those are for the ones who are 'insecure' about being Cyclone fans. I'm sure I will hear it all now - although I think that It's true.

And as far as the poster who told his story and then went home and had pizza...I cannot stop laughing!!!
