    ISU facility study

Did everybody in the NCC receive this email survey today? Was wondering what you thought? It sounded like they were gearing up for another increase in ticket prices and donation levels.

Somebody may have already started a thread on this but I didnt look very hard for it.

    Dear Cyclone fan,

I am writing to share some news about Iowa State Athletics and to ask for your assistance with a research study that is of significant importance to our future.

Our Athletics Department has developed a strategic plan to propel its programs to greater success. The focus of our plan centers on the academic and competitive performance of our student-athletes and a financial investment in both facilities and sports.

Your participation in a 10-minute internet survey as part of a strategic study will help shape our facility plans as well as the future of the athletics program as a whole. A randomly selected group of National Cyclone Club members, football season ticket holders and basketball season ticket holders are being asked to participate in this study.

To participate in this study, please click (deleted link)

Your time and insight is greatly appreciated by the Iowa State University Athletics Department. Thank you for your participation and Go Cyclones!

    Director of Athletics

    I deleted the link.
The survey seemed like they are trying to get a feel on what would be acceptable pricing and donation levels.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

yeah I got it...The thing that shook me was the question about $2500 donation required between the 40's, and like $1500 between the 10's.

Wowza, $1500 + 4 tickets would be like $400 a weekend assuming 7 home games. I LOVE state, but that is above my limit. Everyone says but what if we are competing for championships, even then it is too rich for my blood...

Guess I will get the new bowl endzone seats in a few years.

Yeah, I feel like my wife and I combined make some nice coin, but I max out at giving about $250 - $500 per year to NCC. $1500 would be more than my property tax. I'm not willing to part with that much money when a ticket doesn't even come with it.

Those rates for between the 40's and the 10's are pretty much what they have already announced to take effect in 2008

I would LOVE to see the day that it takes a $1500 donation to sit between the 10 and the 40, but that would be an exponential growth in Gold Club members

    Not really...

The 2008 stuff I saw would put my section (F), at part cardinal, part states 250. I am on about the 25-30 yard line.

    Re: ISU facility study

I got it and responded..............doesn't apply to me and thousands of NCC members that live thousands of mile away from Ames.
Same response from me.........spend your money and time promoting to you in driving distance to Ames. Spend my $1000/year to NCC in helping ISU sell tickets to you guys, however get my Clones on TV more.......(webcast will work)
I buy season tickets for my family still trapped in Iowa.............got 4 this year and may come back for Suckeye game? (end zone tickets)

    Re: ISU facility study

This is what I wrote in comment section:

"The single most important thing I want out of the Iowa State Athletic Department is positive results. Winning 1 conference game in football and 6 conference games in basketball will not justify any facility improvement. I am a donor, as well as a season ticket holder. However, I believe all attempts will fail if we don't start winning games. Jamie Pollard is the best thing that happened to this university, let's hope Gene Chizik and Greg McDermitt take their jobs seriously and start putting more W's on the scoreboard. When you start winning, Iowa State athletics wouldn't have to beg me for money, I will donate like money grows on trees."

    Re: ISU facility study

As of yet, I haven't made my millions, so I'm focusing on budgeting each year to purchase student season tickets. But I wonder, when we do start winning are people going to have the mentality "well we're winning, they must not need the money that bad." Remember, complacency's what's got us here in the first place. However, I still think each individual should pay (or donate) their perception of market value.
