    Cap City League

    Has anybody over here heard anything about this year's Capital City League? I'm guessing it will start about a month from now.

    Last year started on June 17th. Only info up on website looks to be last year's info.

    This is a pretty decent league. Nice players from ISU & Drake. William Penn has a couple that play and so does Grand View.

    That was the last four years in the bIG 12 for us also.

    Of course, most rational fans see it as a fun display of local talent, an introduction to new faces, and a way to see something Cyclone-related during a time when college sports are dormant. Other fans see it as the only developmental tool seen by our players in the offseason; a waste of an hour and half when the competition is dribbling around chairs and cones. One of those groups takes it far too seriously...

    The CCL has nothing to do with the development of ISU players for the sake of ISU fans. Get over it. It is fun for the fans and the players.

    Fun is great. I'm all for it. The problem comes in when the players play with that same CCL "fun" mentality during the season, like has been happening at ISU for the past four years. That will get you stuff like 4-12 in the Big 12.

    If a player can't put the CCL mentality away when it comes to the CBB season, then it might be time for that player to put the CCL away during the summer. I suspect FH will take care of that problem.

    There are a lot of reasons we have sucked the last 4 years in the B12 . . . and none of them have to do with the cap-city league.

    The CCL must have been the problem all along! Quit the CCL and we'll win the Big 12!!!!!

    Over the last four years, other than Brackins from his freshman to sophomore year, has there been any ISU MBB player that has markedly improved his game over the summer? Particularly inside players?

    I can think of a couple that regressed: Jubalek from junior to senior year; Brackins from sophmore to junior year.

    Weren't we a month ago blaming that regression on mcdermott? In fact, not only were we blaming all of ISU basketball's ills on McDermott, but CCL never came up once as a result.

    CCL might be an undisciplined style of basketball, but it's hardly the blame for our problems over the last half decade. Or should our players be banned from ever playing a pickup game at the Rec or Beyer their entire time at ISU?

    The same ******** argument could be made that our players shouldn't play on any Team USA squads.

    I think you need a lesson on causal relationships.
