Had a nice chat with one of Adrian Bennett's asst. football coaches...

Great guy named Kevin ****man...helps coach the team when he's not working for Homeland Security. We were in a one week leadership course together here in Phoenix...he flew out from Houston for the class.

Anyway, absolutely no "news" here, but he was excited about the kid and had nice things to say...I think we're gonna be very happy with Adrian Bennett. Said he was excited to be heading to Ames to play football. Gonna be a good player.

For my part, and I was surprised he hadn't seen it...told him to go check out the video of Coach Rhoads after the win at Nebraska.

FYI, he showed me some highlights off of youtube of a junior running back on the team...kid ran for 2000 yards as a sophomore and is very impressive (can't remember the name). He's a smaller guy...about 165 and 5'7...but VERY quick.

Are you sure it wasn't their QB? I don't think they had a 2000 yard rusher last year unless it was JV. There QB, however is very good. The only other thing I could see is Ruben Arnsworth if he was injured.

Anywho, not to highjack but we were in early on Davis and turns out now pretty much everyone is on him. Could be a Top 5 QB in the 2012 class. He's good, very good. 1400 rushing and 1400 passing last year.

Good stuff, did he by any chance mention if he saw him as a DB or LB for ISU?

IDK for sure, but my guess would be DB and I love that he is 6'1", good height for a DB.

also gotta love guys with family pedigrees in the league.

Re: Had a nice chat with one of Adrian Bennett's asst. football coaches...

He said he believed Bennet might end up at linebacker.

As for the running back...he said the kid was a sophomore last year. I assumed the kid played for the varsity but in retrospect, perhaps he ran for 2000 yards on the sophomore team. It was just a casual and brief conversation during a break...it certainly wasn't the right forum to probe the guy in depth about his football players. He DID light up a bit when talking about Bennett...and I took that as a good sign.

I didn't really want to invade his privacy to the point of stating his last name. He may be an assistant coach, but he's also a colleague and I want to be respectful. I'm comfortable passing along what he said, but I'd rather not have facebook stalkers tracking him as well. Suffice it to say he was very sincere and intelligent guy who thought quite highly of Adrian Bennett.
