    OU President Speaks Out

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp

Says they are "contemplating ways to bridge the revenue gap with the Big 10" but what about the revenue gap within the Big 12. Hmmm.

Well now. Unlike the bigwigs and AD's at Missouri and Nebraska, President Boren is showing some loyalty to the Big 12, and calling out those two, saying "they would regret it later on."
    Love it.

A healthy Big 12 is the best way for there to be a healthy ISU.

    Re: OU President Speaks Out

Just make a Big 12/Pac 10 alliance with a TV network and revenue sharing, and we'll be set.

OU's President Boren's comments are good news for Iowa State.

I'm sorry I still think it's lame. Unless we have a real, viable plan to close the revenue gap we give them absolutely NO reason to believe they would regret it later on.

I agree. The only way to get Nebraska and Missouri to stay is to convince them with math. If it is not in their financial best interest to stay in the Big XII they will leave for the Big Ten. I do take the OU President's comments as good news though as it sounds like even if Nebraska and Missouri leave for the Big Ten, OU will not look to bolt for the SEC or another conference. Best case scenario for ISU if Nebraska and Missouri leave for the Big Ten is for the other ten teams to remain a part of the Big XII and for the Big XII to pick-up two extra teams.

I am starting to think all the saber rattling by the big 10 may turn out to be a great thing for ISU. It may push the big 12 into moving forward with the alliance with the pac 10 and starting a network fairly fast.

I'm feeling a little better today as well. I still feel Nebraska and Missouri may leave for the Big Ten. However, IMO the Big XII will p-up two additional teams; move toward getting a Big XII/PAC 10 T.V. network; and in-the-end ISU will have a more well-funded and stronger Athletic Department. Re: OU President Speaks Out

Big 12 needs to start sharing TV revenue evenly which is the biggest drawback right now in the conference. The football money is rediculous, it's per appearance so obviously Texas and OU who have nearly all their games on TV get the largest share while ISU gets the smallest ammount because we are lucky to get 5 games on TV a season. This is why even Mizzou and Nebraska leave good luck finding a decent school to replace them because financially a smaller school while gaining the BCS part of it is still going to be the bottom of the pecking order with the revenue sharing while the rich Texas and OU continue to get richer.

Regardless of what financial plan is in being considered, I think MU will regret it dearly in recruiting (especially FB), and recruiting is paramount to winning. Maybe losing doesn't hurt as bad when you have more money???

and id like to know why they would regret it exactly? uh, maybe, but i doubt it. Its not like they are raining in national titles over the last decade... may it will hurt them recruiting, i dont know...

The only way Missouri would regret a move to the Big Ten is if hit hurts their Texas recruiting base. That would be the only negative of a potential move.

    Re: OU President Speaks Out

If Nebraska wants to change the revenue sharing all they have to do is vote for it. They along with Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A.M. have been holding the conference hostage by not agreeing to share revenue. If just one of them votes with the rest of the conference we could change the revenue sharing. I hope this whole thing makes one of them change their minds, but I have my doubts that they will. In my opinion Nebraska has no reason to complain since they vote to keep the revenue system the way its been since the Big 12 formed.
