Question.....other former NBA players as coaches

Without doing a ton of research.....does anyone know how many other former NBA players are currently college MBB head coaches? I know about Reggie Theus. Is Matt Doherty still coaching somewhere?

Just was curious, and was wondering how successful they have been.

FH may not be cut out of the same mold. He may be special.

Steve Alford comes to mind, Larry Brown isn't coaching now, but he played int he ABA/NBA, won a gold medal in 1964 as a player, before getting into coaching, he seems to have done alright

I'm not trying to make a judgment here at all about FH....I think he will be fine. I was just curious what other schools might have or have had former NBA players as coaches. Theus and Doherty are the only 2 current ones I could think of.....and I know about Drexler in the past, but there must be others.

Kelvin Sampson at OU and Indiana before he got busted doing what every other major college coach does
(except Greg McDermott he has integrity)

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Brown is still head coach of Charlotte, I think. Don't think he made it to the NBA because he was considered too small. May have played in the ABA though.

I don't think Sampson ever played in the NBA though.

I think I recall reading that Johnny Orr played 1-2 years in the NBA (or fore-runner of the NBA).

Les at Bradley is a good example of a former star coming back with no experience... He had some very good, early success but has since tailed off.
