"Senior JoAnn Hamlin, who missed last season with a blood clot, will petition the NCAA for an extra season of eligibility." If my math is right, Hamlin, 24 years old, is seeking six years to play four. Wonderful. They'd do that for us, wouldn't they?

Even this year, although Bolte has always been called a guard, you could argue we went big; Bolte is 6-1, rebounds, and scores with that short baseline move at times.

I personally NCAA doesn't do that. If my memory is correct, she trash-talked how happy she was after EIU beat ISU 2 seasons ago - how she always hates (or dislikes) us because she went to K-State.

Since the 2/3 lineup would have Bolte at 2-guard, we'd then be extra big next season. The PG would be the only one under 6'1".

There's a good chance she gets this. If a player misses two seasons due to injury, it's a no-brainer. If a player misses one season due to redshirt (transfer or otherwise) and later misses a second season due to injury, I'd think the NCAA would probably be pretty lenient on that.

Yep, but my guess is that the lineup and hence its size will be pretty fluid for a while, at least until the coaches see who fits where. Can't help but think there will be lots of early on experimentation, more so this coming year than is usual.

ISU actually tried to get her lost season of eligibility reinstated by the Big 12, but they were denied.

USATODAY.com - Big 12 denies Iowa State's Robinette an extra year

Re: WBB Cyclones look to go big next year

Bolte needs to work on her quickness and ability to create her own shot off the dribble this summer. We are going to miss Lacey dearly in close games and when the shot clock is running down because there isn't a player on this roster that can come close to doing what she did handling the ball. I have no issue with our post play, those 3 freshman gals exceeded expectations last year and are going to get even better but we are going to have to get some decent guard play to have that inside-out offense we are so good at but you need some guards that can knock the 3 ball down consistently. Not worried about that aspect of Bolte's game but she's going to be counted on to handle the ball more this coming season and make some tough shots that she usually shys away from.

Bolte just isn't that quick, and never will be. She is what she is - strong shooter when she has space to get the ball off, has the height to back her opponent down to the basket, and doesn't mind contact.
It isn't her fault that we won't have other guards with quickness and offensive skills to draw double-teams so she gets open.
Again, she is what she is. She'll work hard this summer, as she always does, but she isn't going to get any quicker.

I laughed when I read the original comment that she needed to get quicker. Yeah that ain't ever happening.
