Oh don't you dare take this away from me state. Don't you dare. I live for the beer fueled fights and nudity.

How Un-America, we live in a land of the free and the home of the brave, where the eagle soars and....oh wait, this could make it way better for boating up there that weekend so I am all for it since we can still drink on the boat. Viva la Taco House!

Re: State Park Beaches May be Dry over Fourth of July

Usually I would be against something like this, but after looking at the pictures from that article showing the disgusting amount of littering I think it is probably for the best. It is not like there won't be plenty of other places to party in Okoboji over the weekend. The state didn't set aside these parks so they could be trashed by a bunch of drunken idiots who probably have no actual ties to the region.

I like this idea. Too many people in this state think they need alcohol to have a good time. You can fun without booze and debauchery. Reminds me of my favorite song, sung by the great Jermaine Stewart....

So come on baby, won't you show some class
Why you want to move so fast.
We don't have to take our clothes off
    To have a good time
    Oh no
We could dance & party all night
    And drink some cherry wine
    Uh huh

    Oh no
We could dance & party all night (all night)
    And drink some cherry wine
    Uh huh
Na na na na na na na............

I agree with this perspective! Well-stated!

I agree, but why can't people clean up after themselves, or better yet, stop acting like they're above the law in the first place?

Good question, the problem with the IGL region is that it has a TON of people who flow in for a very short amount of time. I spend a lot of time in the region year-round and other than late June-Early August all of the towns surrounding the lakes are completely deserted. Maybe it is tricky to hire qualified state employed seasonal law enforcement officers. Like the article states, this is only a problem one weekend out of the year.

I like to party as much as the next guy, and I've hung out on the sandbar in Little Miller's Bay for many 4th of July's, but I sure as **** don't feel entitled to just trash one of our states most valuable natural resources.

I grew up there, I know how it works but it's not like it is different from year to year. You know what will happen and you know what to expect. I just kind of think this is the chicken **** way out for the police on this. I also am not one to trash things but with that many people it will happen. I guess I don't really know what the answer is.

I agree too many people think the law doesn't apply to them and do everything possible to get around it and then get mad at the cops when they are caught, it gets old and is quite immature.
