    The New Y2K???

When the big Y2K happened, I was working as a systems analyst for a telemarketing firm. I knew that basically nothing was going to happen on Y2K night, because we starting seeing (and fixing) our Y2K-related problems as much as a year beforehand. Nevertheless, my mom was convinced that all of civilization was going to come to a crashing end on Dec. 31 of 1999, because Dan Quayle's idiot brother said it would.

Anyway, all of this talk about conference expansion, conference re-alignment, super-conferences, and so on is looking to me to be an awful lot like all the Y2K talk around the end of 1999.

What are you talking about? The minute the clock struck 12:00am on 1-1-2000, my blender, dishwasher, and microwave absolutely took on minds of their own and trashed my house.

    This didn't happen to you?
