ISU mens' hoops docked two scholarships

last year. This is news, of course, but the real story and the one the DMR didn't address yet is what the departure of CMac, and potential departures of Dunson and Taylor would mean as far as scholarships. DesMoinesRegister.com

i thought they changed the rule and if a player leaves in good acedemic standing that does not go against the school.

I think you're right, but that new rule isn't retroactive. The rule (if I'm recalling correctly) was changed after our initial problems occurred. Those guys were operating under the old rule. If, for example, McIntosh is leaving Iowa State in good academic standing (which I doubt, but it's possible), then he would not count against the school. But if his grades are bad and he jumps ship, that's another strike against us.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Hey at least ISU MBB finally made the top headline in the Des Moines Register...in nice big bold letters.

The DMR article of course puts the "important thing to note" about a perfect score the semester before and the semester after the Morgan coaching chage in the last paragraph of the article.

This is a problem that entirely relates to one semester and we will be touch and go on this subject until that semester drops out of the average in a few years.

I know a lot of people around here think that the NCAA is out to get us, but I think they really threw us a bone by letting us take the scholly hit this season.

Re: ISU mens' hoops docked two scholarships

I don't think we are in the clear yet. I keep reading that Dunson may be having academic problems. If so and he leaves for a JUCO because he would have been inelligible, then I think that will count against us. McIntosh is headed toward another 4 year school, so it seems like he must be OK. Taylor is also an unknown.
I think the majority of our problems stem from Tim Barnes, Reggie George and Faulkner. Barnes was inelligible for one year and then never returned. I think George and Faulkner both left in the middle of a semester, which would have left them inelligible. Not sure about Agnew since he left for a JUCO, but I don't know if that was for grades.
