    Thames or Gibbs

would any of you like to add one of these two kids. I think Thames would be a great addition. Not sure on Gibbs. Pretty highly rated out of high school but I am not sure if injury's got him or he just did not develope yet. I would say these are the two best candidates for us right now. Not sure how much Freddy is recruiting either.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

    Re: Thames or Gibbs

I'd like one of them. Depends on who the staff really likes. Gibbs would only have two to play but he is an Iowan and I have a soft spot there.

What happened to Gibbs? Did he get tired of playing in high school gyms?

Thames has to see the opportunity to make an instant impact. Him and DG could work very well together.

Thames would have to sit a year just like any transfer...this would mean he wouldn't ever play with DG

    Re: Thames or Gibbs

Gotta go with Gibbs. He's a big body at the 2 or a shooter that can play the 3. He gives us a different look at both positions. I think Thames would be a solid PG but I'm hoping for a Homerun at that position that can lead this program.

Gibbs might help with M. Paige. Just a thought.

yeah i know. i didnt say it clearly, but i meant as far as development goes. it seems like they have the same frame, same style of play so DG could work on him to develop Xavier into a solid sophomore guard.

What are C-Dubs thoughts on this? I wonder if hes heard anything from either of them to provide us with a realistic hope of getting either one. Otherwise its all just speculation.

Didn't someone post yesterday that on CSR they said we weren't going after Thames because we had someone else in mind?

I would take either, as their stats were pretty similar:

    Gibbs.......
    Minutes/gm 9.3
    FG % = .432
    3% = .316
    FT % = .471
    Reb/gm = 1.9
    Assist/TO = 1.31
    Pts/gm = 2.2

    Thames...
    Minutes/gm 17.6
    FG % = .412
    3% = .265
    FT % = .64
    Reb/gm = 1.5
    Assist/TO = 1.31
    Pts/gm = 4.6

    Re: Thames or Gibbs

Gibbs lack of playing at Gonzaga comes directly from having a solid team especially at the 1 and 2. He did get hurt last year but he wasn't looking at a ton of time to begin with.

That was me...there is a thread about it on CSR that we aren't pursuing him because of other options. I don't know if that means Gibbs or someone else.

I would take Gibbs. Hes a stud, but has been hampered by injuries at Gonzaga.
