    Rate this year's NFL Draft

What does everyone think about the draft this year? Personally, I thought that this draft was slim on blue chippers but deep on quality players.

I mean, outside of the top 5-10 picks there were very few can't miss guys. But, there were solid collegiate produces going well into the 3rd round. It seems to me that teams made very few reaches when compared against previous years. (with the exception of Miami and Green Bay's first round picks) How do you think it ranks amongst previous drafts?

I agree. And I think you saw some of that reflected in the trades. No one ended up giving up any of the top 1st round spots yet a number of trades in the last half. Not a ton of first round value 15-32.

I think also, we're seeing the lack of large numbers of great players being reflected in the early draft grades for NFL teams. The best grade anyone had from ESPN was a B+.

I don't recall the last time I didn't see at least a team or two get an A/A-.

I think you are spot on jdewaard. A lot of "good" prospects...not a ton of "great" prospects.

One thing that annoys me...15 minute intervals for a team's selection.

That time can be annoying. However, when trades are going on, 15 minutes isn't very much time.

I'd love to be inside a draft-day war room someday. That's gotta be one helluva thrill.

Re: Rate this year's NFL Draft

it was an ok draft, this draft has really been all about Russel, Quin, and Johnson, oh and almost forgot Peterson(depending on injuries) so the way they play this year will be a big part of how good this class really is, Also it will be interesting to see who becomes the next high draft big time player out of this class, and possibly big time no draft player (DeAndre?) Overal i give this draft a B, you have the teams that it looks like got the big time steals like the Browns, then you have the teams that looks like they hurt themselves.. my packers...and seahawks... but like i said, all depends on how they do on the field in the NFL

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Rate this year's NFL Draft

A couple of the really good late first rounders in my opinion were Adam Carriker to the Rams, and Anthony Gonzalez to the Colts.

Maybe it's just because of the fact that we faced him so much when he was at Nebraska, but I think that guy has NFL star written all over him. He's got size, speed and a motor. He's going to be great from the get go.

And as far as Gonzalez goes, I don't really know if he's ever going to be a star, but he fits in perfectly in the Colts system. He's going to be their 3rd receiver and be really productive for them. He must have been overjoyed to hear his name called by Indy

I give it 39 out of 55, and I refuse to extrapolate.

I also think Carriker has a lot of potential because of his physical stature, but he just didn't produce last year at all. There have been a lot of physical specimens that just aren't that effective. I do worry about him in that regard.

Long, boring, and essentially worthless in predicting the success of a given player.

I am as big a football fan as the next guy, but this thing has gotten out of hand. Kiper is on ESPN talking about picks 24-7, 4000 hours of draft coverage, etc, etc, etc.

The Rams have a history of drafting Husker players - especially on defense so far in this decade. The Rams have been playing "look out" defense lately too.

Here comes someone with the ball...lookout! *Ram ducks*

I think the two (Husker players and poor Ram defense) are related.

Plus, the Rams did draft both Lawrence Phillips and Eric Crouch.

    D'oh!

At least that Grant Wistrom feller didn't suck.
