    Cyclone Alley

I know I've been over this a hundred times, but how or who do we need to talk to about getting rid of Cyclone Alley. It's an embarrassment to everything Hilton Magic stands for.

There has never been a time when Cyclone Alley was a good idea.

    Re: Cyclone Alley

Unfortunately, Cyclone Alley is now even more firmly entrenched in the SALC (and by extension, the Alumni Association). This past year, SALC changed membership so that one fee got you into both Cyclone Alley and the Student Alumni Association. There is no longer any choice to join just one or the other. In effect, they are forcing anyone who wants to be in Cyclone Alley to also join SAA. I'm friends with a number of SALC and Cyclone Alley Central leaders; this is a huge moneymaker for them, as well as great publicity. It would take some pretty massive momentum to get rid of Cyclone Alley if they don't want to go. I doubt Pollard has enough clout to do it on his own, even if he wanted to. It's no longer just Athletics, it's politics.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Then dont kill CA. Give it one side of the arena. Let the other half be Student general admission.

I remember being happy they went to CA on both ends because I thought they were a better crowd. My issue with them these days is the small group. I'm for whatever gets the most students to the game. If that means splitting it - fine, if it means getting rid of it that is fine too. Better yet, just start winning more games and then things probably just take care of themselves.

This is ultimately the right answer. Better product=higher demand.

This. I've never understood why so many people hate CA, but I guess I don't know all the facts behind it and wasn't a student before it.

BUT one of the main complaints I hear is about the "manufactured" chants of CA but if we start winning or have an exciting product on the floor, CA will no longer be "manufacturing" them, they will be genuine! No one will be complaining about CA if we start winning. But I will agree that the people in charge of CA suck... Whenever I pick up the T-shirts for the breast cancer or gold games they have given me bad vibes, plus they don't like it when you yell obscenities at officials or opposing players! Also I don't think they like it when you take the Hook'Em horn and flip it upside down at the Texas players as they walk into the locker-room...

But I think they need to loosen up a little and let college students be college students and let them do the crazy things they do to make the atmosphere more hostile and better. Like the speedo guy in the UNC-Duke game a few years back! If they would loosen up a little and we started winning, CA wouldn't be labeled as a disappointment! But mostly if we started winning...

I think if organized correctly, an organized student section can be more effective! Especially if we came up with our own unique cheer and action (sorry but Cyclone Aerobics doesn't do it for me).

Cyclone Alley is not good, but get rid of "pump up the pasta" and I will be thrilled! That is easily the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Definitely not worth any advertisement money we get from Barilla

I thought it was a nice fit given the joke of a program we had under GM. I was kind of hoping the players would eventually start joining in since playing competitive basketball was a lost cause.

I agree. Pump up the pasta was horrible. And I'd love to see us go back to CA on one side, and GA students on the other.

So students on one side (the fun side) and the CA committee on the other (the no fun allowed side)?

    Re: Cyclone Alley

Honestly, though I'm not a fan of CAC and how they and their friends 'reserve' seats and proceed to talk or text most of the game, what really bugs me is the promotions, PSAs, and advertisements. I know we're making money from it, but is it really a good idea to launch the weather guy during a time out when we have momentum? Especially when we all know he's going to say we have snow or ice for the drive home....
