The NFL Draft tells you how your college FB program is doing...

...how many players from ISU will be drafted?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think it will be those two later on the 2nd day. Could have a third yet doubtful.

From talking to Stephenson at the spring game, he seemed prettu sure he was going to get drafted. Most experts agree there. Its the next Cyclone who is going to be the question mark. Different drafts have had other Clones in them getting picked up late.

Re: The NFL Draft tells you how your college FB program is doing...

Well, we end up with one guy getting drafted...Brant late in the seventh round. Looks like we don't have any budding young Mel Kipers here on this site!

This certainly tells you that we have not had the athleticism (combination of speed and size that is so important in FB) on the field recently in Cyclone jerseys! I am counting on Chizik correcting this deficiency for us! I am also counting on him "coaching these guys up"!

Look at this list and tell me what they have in common:

    Tennessee
    LSU
    Florida State
    Penn State
    Michigan
    USC
    Cal
    Nebraska
    Florida
    Texas
    Notre Dame
    Miami (Fl)
    Ohio State
    Arkansas

That's rignt...all of these schools had at least 3 players selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft (I'm not even counting rounds 4-7).

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Not to dredge up a painful memory, but Hampton had more guys drafted than we did this year.

Overall, outside Texas, seems like not too many Big 12 guys went to the NFL.

Re: The NFL Draft tells you how your college FB program is doing...

I thought if anyone would get drafted it would be Stevenson late then if anyone else I would have guessed Jackson and Curvey before I would have even given Brant a thought. Not sure what they see in Brant besides a big body because he was pretty soft on our line. My roommate when discussing the Brant pick: "why in the world would anyone want to draft someone from our crappy O-line? It's not like we were very good there last year!"

We'll see who gets picked up as free agents but most of the time those guys don't make the team either unless they impress on a team that has a really big need at their position.

I was watching some draft analysis and noted one thing that may hurt Stephenson. Many teams are now putting only 7 guys on their game-day roster, which means that Olinemen have to be interchangeable and able to play multiple positions. I think Stephenson may be purely a center, limiting his versatility.

True, I don't know what kind of long snapper he is but there are guys that have made a career in the NFL as strictly a long snapper too.

Actually Stephenson has only played 2 years at center...many think he is still learning the position.
