Who knows, if Meyer is on fire, we can be pretty darn good! I'm going into that game assuming we have the chance to win!

people are going to be nuts if fans think that we can pull it off this year of all years. Just because we have a new coach doesn't solve the huge holes we have in both trenches. But i am excited for this year just to see someone other than Dan pacing the sidelines.

That game was one of my favorite Cyclone memories- I really, really hate Nebraska. Not only did we beat them for the first time in a long time that year, but to (kind of) quote Johnny Orr "We kicked (their) @$$!"

I think someone should clarify that this is '02, not '04 (i have no idea when you were a freshman). I remember catching the end of that game on my way to my senior year (high school) Homecoming dance, and whenever it cut to commercial, I would cut to a cd I had with the fight song on it, and sing along. Great memory...

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

I would put the odds of a win at about 4-1 against it. Huskers would be favored by over two touchdowns today. Nebraska's recruiting has been strong, they looked good in some big games last year, but their on field coaching is horrible. I'd take the odds and go with Iowa State. Staight up, I'm hoping we can pull it off, but it will be tough.

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

Things will really have to come together quickly if we are to beat Nebraska. I'm not sold on Callaghan, and I don't think they are going back to the Nebraska of old under him, but they are still likely a bowl team. Our guys will still be learning the system to a certain extent. What a stamp that would put on the Chizik era though.

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

I would almost be worried about the way people would act if we be N. If we lost a game after that everyone would get all POed. Almost like in MBB this year when we took Kansas to overtime. It broke our hearts the next few games that we didn't hang with a team of lesser talent.

But don't get me wrong anytime you can beat N is still wicked sweet!

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

That was such a great day. Got to Jack Trice early, got a bit of face time on Gameday, had front row seats in the student section. Was down on the field as the final seconds ticked down!
My friend was a big Nebraska Fan before going to Iowa State. It was great to be sitting next to him as we destroyed the Huskers and loved every moment of it!
The goal posts didn't come down, but they were at a 30 degree pitch when we got done with them. I believe they had to take them out and reset them anyway. Stupid indestructable goal posts....

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

We can go into Lincoln 4-0. Under pressure, Callahan is not a great coach. While the Clones will begin to believe (swagger) that they are good!

I do believe it can happen, especially if we go into that game 4-0. Huskers are starting to "split" this is a make or break year for Callahan and I don't think he is capable of it.

Re: Will ISU beat Nebraska this year?

Nebraska has more depth and talent, they've had time to learn Callahan's system, and the game is in Lincoln. Anything is possible, but it looks like a no-brainer. :(
